VAR 21:00 - Apr 30 with 2394 views | MattFinish | The official line was Vestergaard was sent off for denying a goal-scoring opportunity, not for serious foul play. If that's right then the VAR decision is wrong because Vestergaard had cleared the ball out of Vardy’s reach before the supposed foul This is BS

VAR on 14:19 - May 4 by PaleRider | VAR as technology is not the problem. It's not even a problem in football - it worked well at the last World Cup. The problem is our referees. It is sad to see how far English referees have fallen. As has been stated before - the best referees are those that go by largely un-noticed as "the game" comes first and they come second. Many of pour referees just don't get tis and think that they are the stars of the show. The second problem is that our referees are corrupt. Not necessarily in monetary terms but in terms of protecting each other. This needs to be stamped out. I think foreign refs are a great idea - you could have a foreign ref on the pitch and an English ref on VAR or vice versa. Whatever happens this needs sorting for the sake of the reputation of the English game. |
They are also 'corrupt' as you put it in 'protecting' and refusing to acknowledge the clear faults of VAR as it is currently being operating in the UK. Too much talk of teething troubles and of it being a good system that just needs to be tweaked, when most people now accept that it is a flawed system, which simply does not do what it's supposed to do. There were very few issues with VAR in the last World Cup, don't appear to be any in Champions or Europa Leagues, and don't appear to be any major issues in European leagues. So it appear issues seem to be with refs in Premier League, either on the pitch or sitting at Stockley Park making decisions

You can only conclude that if you know that they are not operating the system correctly. And if they are, where is the supervision correcting them and making sure (as is the case) that they aren't making the same errors over and over again? There isn't a lot of up to date information available online about how VAR is working in other countries/tournaments and why (if it is) it is working better. All I know is that in the UK it is a shambles and the biggest disgrace is that no one is sorting out the problem - whether the problem be referees or whatever. And if they don't have the ability or willingness to sort it out, then they should pause it.
