Add to that, the confidence that comes from winning; the added confidence of making a habit of scoring late AND the avoidance of an energy-sapping period of extra time

Popped back on here to say congratulations, absolutely gutted that you scored right at the end as I was expecting Dale to let a late goal in,no sour grapes from though as I will be cheering Dale on in the second round and hoping that you make the third round draw, the TV money will come in handy and Dale are starting to look good going by today's game,win/win situation for me really as if Notts had to lose to somebody in the FA Cup then I would want it to be Dale

Good luck lads

Completely agree.

Three league games before the TV folks arrive, 2 at home.

We now need the message spread; this is a fan-led club and the club exists for the fans.

Seconded.

Cannot understate the importance of this victory, albeit against minnows of no significance.

We do have something special going on at this club in the face of all kinds of adversity.

The manager is getting results, the directors have a strategy in place that is coming good, the Trust has almost doubled membership and fans who have previously been divided are now exuding a unity at the ground in a manner missing for too many years.

So happy tonight. Thanks lads.

Excellent post.

Have to say when we made our first two subs I didn’t see a positive outcome tonight. But we created the chances late on and got a massive result. Bit like when you don’t fancy the agreed night out, but it turns out to be a belter.
The side got stick for not seeing games recently, but what goes around comes around.

Great result. Playing until the end again.

TV with be absolutely seething that it's not Notts County v Sheff Wed.

It was never going to be Sheff Wed anyway, Plymouth are the form team of the whole 92 clubs just about, only one loss so far this season. Agree with Judd, give these lads a chance, we`re so lucky to still have a club never mind still a team had things turned bad with the chancers. RS and the new Board are all doing their bit, so many new lads, it`s all going to take time. Up The Dale.

More proof that, despite maybe not having the best players in the world being utilised in a way we might not all agree with, there’s enough in the squad that Stockdale is building to get results with moments of quality and entertainment along the way. Battling cup wins should never be underestimated and the next time we lose one, which might be on Saturday and again next Tuesday at home, let’s see if we can continue to recall tonight and other such occasions this season and keep things on a level.

Still progressing quite steadily, not sure we’d want anything more right now. Great win, credit to the manager and his players.

Wow just finished work and walked home with a smile on my face.
What a great result.
Good news financially for the club but also boosts it’s profile immeasurably with TV exposure in the next round.

Great result we played well Andrews made a difference using his strength to hold the ball up and a great finish for the first thought they tired last ten especially their back four and we took full advantage.
Thought Newby had an off night but never mind it’s the result that counts.

I think they are decent and articulate, but there's hardly any description regards Dale when in possession, when we are on ball it's hard to imagine the scene. My own fault. I should have gone. lol.

I thought the same. It felt like they kept making the point that the game was end-to-end and we were playing some good football but the lack of description on our attacks made it sound like we were really under the cosh as they were understandably excited whenever Notts went forward.

Had the commentary on whilst watching another cracking cup tie at Prestwich Heys, who lost 3-4 to West Didsbury & Chorlton in injury time in the Lancashire Cup. Listening and watching two great matches at the same time was good fun, although I did get a few strange looks when I started bouncing around celebrating Beesley's goal just as the ball was booted out for a throw-in over my head.

Tangled up in blue.

"Unsustainable" said clowns, liars, fools, crooks and chancers who wanted to buy something, erm... "Unsustainable". And a pisspoor journalist who believed them.

We even had a CEO who saw us as only being worthy of non-league status.

So, tonight we pick up a win bonus and a nice £60K (according to Radio Nottingham) for being on telly next round. Once the club becomes properly run again, as opposed to one man's personal piggy bank, fans invest big time in THEIR club. "Unsustainable" my arse.

You can imagine the scene. Sunday 5th December, 12:15 PM. Ex-employee sat in a dressing gown having dropped a couple of Viagra, with the telly on watching the Dale game. Kitchen roll at hand. Onanism if Plymouth score, tears if Dale score. Fancy that, the self-proclaimed biggest Dale fan who ever walked the Earth desperate for us to fail.

Great result tonight. Thanks to Robbie and the lads. Delighted a self-serving narcissist will be disappointed

It’s hard to believe it was less than a year ago we hammered them 4-0 down at their place as they were struggling in the bottom four. If you’d told me then they’d be the best team in the bottom two divisions in a year’s time I wouldn’t have believed you. Like you say, they’re absolutely flying so fair play to them!

Just home from the game after a rubbish journey back (motorway closed and torrential rain over the tops!) but what a feeling.

We had patches tonight from the sublime to the ridiculous... but ultimately we won the game, got extra replay ticket money, TV money, probably some fanzone type income from round 2, and increased again the feel good factor around the club.

For RS to reference what this means after what we've been through reaffirms to me that we are all in this together. Some intelligent business in Jan & this could be a very special season. I thought Andrews was great, Kelly was brilliant in patches, O'Connell was coaching Taylor all night, and I can't remember the last time we had genuine competition between the keepers.

In a strange way, the antics of Bottomley et al may end up leaving us in a stronger position than we have ever been.... just in the exact opposite way than their intentions

Just saw on a scrappy youtube clip. No official highlights as yet. It's another thoughtful excellent delivery from Liam for the first goal. Quality signing.

And a great ball in from Done for the winner. He gets a lot of flack most of the time so rightly he should be praised for his contribution getting us through.

Last night’s result was terrific. There was a risk that defeat could’ve turned the tide of negativity from the naysayers to an irreversible level.

Thing with this team is it is always going to be inconsistent. We have a manager finding his way both at the club and in the role, and a good number of players who are doing the same because they are young and raw.

We’ve had a summer of absolute turmoil - and the half of it isn’t even in the public domain - so to even get a competitive team on the field has been an achievement in itself.

I maintain that seventh in the league this season would be an aspirational target but, realistically, a season of stability should be expected.

There’s no way Stockdale will accept that though, and I’ve no doubt he’ll be aiming to finish in those play-off spots. I also think he will have a lot more flexibility and time to consider the next transfer window and that will perhaps bring a touch more consistency to the playing squad.

Remember, we are still within touching distance of the play-offs with a squad that has been deemed erratic thus far.

Last night’s result - and the TV cash pot - will only aid progression.

From the Owls website: "Should Wednesday progress in the Emirates FA Cup to round two, our game at either Rochdale or Notts County will be broadcast live on ITV on Sunday 5 December (12:15pm)." And confirmed on FA site too.

Exactly this. We don't normally comment on match threads, but this is a key point. We shouldn't forget how far we have come, and hopefully one day the wider fanbase will know JUST how close we came to not having a club.

Its credit to the club, the integrity of the new board, the Trust, and those fans who have been involved, that so much of what has gone on isn't yet public. Its important that some of it stays undisclosed until the relevant authorities have done their investigations (it wouldn't be good to have it online which could then potentially prejudice any court cases, for example). We also think there is a lot to be said for the perpetrators to not fully know just how much people know about their wrongdoing.... at some point they'll hit self preservation mode and turn on each other (if they haven't already!) Everybody mentioned above has played a part in saving a club that was beyond on its knees and building it to a position of strength today as a sustainable, solvent, well run fan led club.

It is fair to say, though, that if we were involved in any wrongdoing that went on, we'd still be sitting firmly on squeaky bum time

Catchy.

Especially if we make a habit of scoring these late goals to get something out of games.
