But ffs can we please ditch this endless playing a back 5
It is a total shambles AND feeds the sideways tippy tappy BS that gets us in SO much trouble with slack and Baz in there
All that silly goal kick 6 yard box Bol lox does not happen with a solid back 4

It is false to say 5 at the back to be honest as it is supposed to be a fluid 3 at the back, changing to 5 if we are under the cosh. if used properly it gives us better attacking options and yesterday I think we saw a bit of that. I do not like it much myself but it can work well if set up properly, thing is fellows is not a WB so to speak, he is not at all defensive minded.

I think if we had two really solid CB’s, we could more easily get rid of the three CB’s idea.

But we haven’t.

A valid point
We just don’t have the quality
Although I would say given time and a good manager Jelert Wood Quarshie/THB Wellington could be that

Taylor Harwood Bellis is strong at this level, if you played him alongside Ronnie Edwards you would have a good contrast.

So we could play those too and Quarshie could play with either of them

Let’s just celebrate two wins on the bounce. The atmosphere in the pub was brilliant after the game you could see the relief. About time and long May it continue.

Andy Moon the skate reporter from South Today was on my train back to Winchester last night he didn’t look very happy lol .

I agree with you, yesterday was more a 3-4-1 -2

3 at the back with two central midfielders and two wide men, Scienza, Armstrong & Azaz up front with Scienz & Azaz dropping deeper when necessary

I’m not convinced by Edwards.

I think he lacks strength and pace.

Good on the ball admittedly. He might make a decent midfielder.

I agree about Edwards, but I'm not convinced by any of them. I've said since early on that we should play THB and Wood together as CBs because they are the best we've got, which isn't saying much.

The debate about 2 or 3 CBs needs to be in the context of the rest of the team. If we play 2 CBs then we need full backs, not wing backs. We also need 2 defensive midfielders and they need to be solid, not teenagers. Perhaps with the return of OR we now have options we didn't have before.
