I'm surprised so many people have basically reacted to the Daily Mail/Sky/Middlesbrough hype surrounding Tonda/Spygate and are calling for Tonda’s head. Obviously, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I respect that, but this conversation is only happening because the EFL gave us this preposterously severe punishment.
If we had received the punishment that we should have got which was at a maximum two points deduction per spying incident and had gone on to win the playoff final which was the likely outcome, the number of people calling for Tonda's head would probably have been about 2% if that (and that's allowing for 130 Years to vote).
The EFL are maintaining that the harsh decision to expel us from the playoffs was because this was a completely separate competition which I disagree with. If this was the case than the Ipswich and Oxford spying accusations, which were worth 2 points each, would have been heard separately. So, the punishment should have been six points deduction applied the next season we were in the Championship.
If the EFL had applied a reasonable punishment, then I maintain there would be very few Saints fans, if any, who would be calling for Tonda’s resignation. |  | | |

Had a touch of PTSD last night on this...woke up with following random noises in head..
What were the synapse- challenged douches at the EFL doing coming up with that scale of penalty. The rules breached should have had fixed max penalties attached to them in the first place.
Their decision penalised the ownership, the innocent backroom people, the players, the 10's upon 10's of thousands of fans and, dare I say it, attempted to humiliate the City of Southampton..
Meanwhile the only person who phuqed up was Eckert and he owned up on Day1 and has apologised appropriately.
The EFL may wish to say they acted within their poxy "laws" but they could and should have enforced the rule that over-arches issues of this Mickey Mouse scale....That rule is normally referred to as "The Enforcement of Common Sense "
Tell gibbphuq to stand up in court and swear we won the tie using a bloke behind a tree. Even a 91 year old judge would get a laugh out of that one.
They should have gone with Eckert touchline ban for Final and 5 game touchline ban next season...chunky fine for SFC..6 points and then shut up in case anyone really finds out why it all looked so bent.
