Now that the dust has begun to settle, I am sensing that the pendulum is swinging from “Tonda out” to “Tonda in”.

Or is it just me?

Poll: If we were today re-instated to the play-off final, would you go on Saturday?

According to the big poll on Saintsweb, the majority of Saints fans don't want him sacked.

Why should they? It would be stupid. Even if you don't like him, it makes more sense to wait for the FA decision. But, most Saints fans hope we can keep the best manager we've had for years.

Even if the FA suspend him, I'd happily take someone like Roy Hodgson as an interim manager so that we can get him back, because Tonda's going to win trophies for some club and I would rather it was Saints.

One thing that is getting no air time at the moment is what are SR actually doing or thinking?.

Even SFC must have an HR Policy Handbook that contains the procedures for disciplinary action against employees deemed to have broken rules/brought the club into disrepute and damaged its reputation (and admitted it)

Can anyone on here tell me why they think that SR would be inclined to retain Eckert's services ?..one thing I know is that it won't be because 52% of the fans think they should.

Current vote on there is as below.

Sack him - 142 (48.8%)
Don't sack him - 149 (51.2%)

Interesting.

Dare I say, this could be the new Brexit......

Yes when those voting for him to stay realise we won’t be getting all that money promised for the NHS there will be hell to play

Because he’s in the same bracket as a number of current ruthless, fully focused managers, only difference is he’s twenty years younger. If/when he goes he’ll manage some of the really big European teams for the next twenty to thirty years.

He got us chucked out of a playoff final. He got us there in the first place!

Not the best moral argument but interesting point. The change in mood is I reckon down to the fact that as the dust settles its obvious that Tonda's crimes were not death penalty serious and the EFL-Sky-Mboro Axis wbo persuaded people they were were talking sh1te.

I see the temptation of saying feck the lot of them let's keep Tonda. Its not a debate we need to have though because he wiil be sacked after he is suspended. Unless Tonda was pressured from above to do what he did then he will carry the can whether we like it or not.

You are a troll in denial, offering up « advice » that no-one sought and no-one needs to hear.
You say nothing that is not already known.
You’ve been trolling for years now, sometimes it’s tolerable, mostly irritating.
That aside, Nick thinks you’re not a bad poster, so in deference to him, I’ll man up and say sorry for being rude to you.
Emotions are still a bit raw.

We were 21st in the Championship when Will Still was sacked and Tonda Eckert took over.

From a purely selfish point of view & putting my rose-tinted glasses on and donning my Saints hat - I would have him stay 100%.

I doubt very much whether he'll be allowed to of course. I guess we'll find out soon.

Isnt the trouble though that every opposition muppet will be talking like this idiot skate? And half the media and social media talking heads. Anyone with a brain knows we would have come 4th anyway but sadly that brain then asks why in the feck was he doing it then? That is the taint that will stick with him - and us if we keep him. Why did he deliberately break the rules if there was no benefit? The answer is not obvious to your average observer, whether thry are Guardian columnists, Sky talking heads or moronic skates who've got nothing better to do than pollute the TUI.

The answer is that Tonda's desire to win led him to do something very stupid on more than one occasion. We want to keep that will to win but I fear the rest of it will prove too much. He might even get more than a year.

I'm not expressing myself very well.....my point was exactly that...22 unbeaten...great coaching...on an unstoppable roll....it just makes what he did look so mindless.

I don't WANT him fired...I just can't see how he won't be, and it's depressing me.

If 130 is who I think he is then he was a lot more interesting on SaintsMad

This sort of set me thinking about spotting the interloper from times gone by.
There were a few visitors whose input varied from ridiculous to respectable;
from simondeadhead and Bailey’s hair to pompeyrback and pompeygun.
130 comes across like mattpfc.

Frequently went on about us only winning 1 cup in 120 years, bear in mind the halcyon days of Saintsmad were over 10 years ago

There was another clue in something he said on a thread a while back about north Hampshire and I can remember where he said he lived, another poster on SM offered him out after he made a bit of an arse of himself and wanted to meet him in the local pub

On the moral argument point, I’ve seen this said by Boro fans: supporting Tonda and to forgive the cheating shows one’s morals etc.

Some are taking it way too seriously. It’s football and is hardly illegal. Treating our own manager like he’s some sort of criminal is very odd to me.

For me this is a question entirely about forgiveness and redemption.

On the one hand, by rights we should have been nowhere near the playoffs after the Will Still disaster, so we're probably no worse off than if Eckart had not been in charge.

On the other, he has behaved like a complete f*cking moron, and caused untold damage to himself, the Club, the players, the fans and pressurised at least one junior member of staff to get involved too.

My starting point is that he can't reasonably continue, simply because he has betrayed so much trust.

However, if he shows genuine contrition, makes a full apology and completely acknowledges his wrong-doing, then maybe he can be given another chance. He's young, he deserves another chance if he shows the right moral character now.

So the jury is still out for me until he has spoken. And maybe he won't get that chance.

The “Keep Tonda” vote seems to be gaining a bit of momentum, which supports my theory that as time passes, fans are more sympathetic to him.

Current scores on the doors on the Saints Web vote:

Sack him: 151 (45.62%)
Keep him: 180 (54.38%)

Going to be a tough call for the board if the FA don’t ban him….
