Just when we really need a striker that can find the net I see Manollo Gabiadini is being picked for italy. With the strikers that Italy have they must see something in him that three of our managers never.
Just for the record I thought he was the best striker we've had in a since Pele. I don't consider that anyone since apart from Ings has been fit to lace his boots and even ings has done nothing since he went to AV so it could be that he had his last two good seasons with us.
I say this a lot when his name comes up but Gabbiadini was not a prolific striker for us, he scored 10 goals in 51 Premier league appearances for us, 4 of them in his first 3 games, so make that 6 goals in his last 48 games.
But he did have a knack of getting a vital goal or two, Shane Longs record at the time was better.
In fairness we never used him to his potential, he didnt suit our style of play, but his reputation is based solely on that first month at the club , the next 1 year 11 months werent very spectacular.
In terms of who we have had since Che Adams has a very similar goals per game ratio, even Charlie Austin had a better ratio,

I would say we have a knack of finding those strikers who cant seem to score more than 5 a season
I think Austin & adams had a very similar split between starts and sub appearances as Gabbiadini did.
Anyway the the fact is he only got 10 gaols for us in the premier League, his reputation is bigger than his actual goal tally, but most of his goals were quite vital

For once Nick is correct, 6 goals in 48 games. He was pretty much as goal shy as Adams and Armstrong. I've no idea why some of our fans still yearn for him. But I guess there are some who still think Boufal did well for us.

I think with MG it is very much a case of people thinking what might have been had he had some service. We were as goal shy back then as we are now. But I’d say, if Che or MG were clean through, I’d back Gabbiadini to score every time ahead of Adams.
