Just to re-iterate, these are 5 statements I have made over the last 6 weeks, and I stand by each of them if we are to have a chance of doing anything at all this season:

1. We should sign Joel Piroe

2. We should sign a team of Spaniards if we want to play tippy-tappy football (I accept Joel Piroe is Dutch)

3. We have to sell players early to get the new players bedded in to our style of play, even if it means taking a hit on the transfer fees

4. Our two goalkeepers are incompetent. We need a new keeper pronto.

5. This style of football will lead to us conceding a hatful of goals, partly due to the hari kari passing triangles in our penalty area, plus the oppo will just have cigars while we pass the ball about, and then hit us on the break at a time of their choosing.

We need to address 1, 2, 3 and 4 as a matter of urgency to stop 5 happening.

We appear to have made very little progress on these pledges.

It will come back to haunt us if we do not correct this.

Agree with 2 and 4. Afraid 3 is out of our hands as bigger clubs will f()ck us about to get our players on the cheap.

In which case we should buy before we sell.

Sport Republic said last season they would invest if we were relegated.

If it gets to Sep 1 and we have not sold the 6 or 7 players we are expecting to sell, loan them out for the season instead and sell them next year.

Not an option with Che Adams, I get that; but the rest have plenty left on their contracts.

We are running out of time to get the players in who could positively impact on our season.

1. Not a bad idea if we sell Che Adams, who has a better track record

2. The Spaniards we have had before haven't all been the best passers of a ball, Oriol Romeu was not a great passer of the ball. (I accept that he has now attained God like status as the one man who would have kept us up if he had stayed)

3. I am sure that Russell Martin feels the same way, but if we had done that then Newcastle would be laughing at us after signing Livramento for £15 million, Liverpool would have Lavia for £20 million, James Ward Prowse would now be at West Ham for £20 million, the transfer window just doesnt work like that, so far if we discount free transfers etc there have been just 29 transfer over £10 million into Premier League clubs, the Big 7 have completed about half of those that shows that they have the money, but are not that interested in many of our players.

4. Bazunu as a Premier League keeper is not proven, but at Championship level he can be good, I judge him on the level we need him to play, his two mistakes pre season are not faults they are just a couple of errors.

5.The manager said it will take time to implement the possession game, but we know we need new central defenders in to play it, so it is no use judging it until the season is underway, we have better players than Swansea had last season and they were only 3 points off the play offs, we have more cause for optimism than cause for negativity.

You have missed out 6, unlike Nathan Jones or Ruben Selles we have a manager who has a style of play that he is implementing, but it has to be given time, a football season is a marathon not a sprint, it takes time to build a football team, we have that time, Leeds & Leicester are in the same boat as us and the rest of the Championship is not that great.

1. Not in the last two years, he hasn’t. As with Adam Armstrong.

2. Who has Oriol Romeu just signed for?

3. Fine, loan them out then.

4. Not sure I see the difference between a fault and an error. Surely if you have a fault (Bazunu has a number, including not knowing where his goalposts are) you will make errors.

5. Not convinced at all we have better players than Swansea had last season. How many points did we end the season on? Would Swansea have done any worse??

6. Leeds have a manager who is proven at this level.

Leicester have been smart by selling their top players early and getting replacements in.

They are both well ahead of us as things stand.

What makes you so confident we're going to sign new central defenders? We currently have 6 senior players in that position, plus Charles and the B players. It seems far more likely to me that we end up with 2 of these as our regular starters next season.

Our old requirement for that position was that we needed proper defenders. We couldn't even find those. Now we need players who can not only defend, but play the ball around confidently as well. What are the chances of those players being available on the kind of budget we have? Pretty small I'd say. A much better plan would be to cut our cloth to suit our purse. But that would mean a change of tactical plan and that ain't going to happen.

You say "The manager said it will take time to implement the possession game, but we know we need new central defenders in to play it". So that means if we don't sign these new central defenders you will start calling for a change of tactics right?

Every day I come on here and think Nick can't say anything more absurd and then he does...

Romeu has always been a very good passer of the ball. He learnt his trade at the Barca academy ffs. His tackling wasn't great but his passing was very much above average.
