| Southampton Publish Retained List on 16:22 - Jun 9 with 2216 views | PatfromPoole | As I may have mentioned last week, I believe Larios is headed for a move to Spain. Interesting that the two players on loan at Goztepe are in. [Post edited 9 Jun 16:23]

I really don't get paying player wages to people that are here to mentor or coach. God knows what we've paid him over the last 18 months but why bring him back then never pick him. More money wasted.

Players may come and players may go, but Alex McCarthy is here forever. Obviously, no other club would take him, but he should have been the first name on the released list. The core of useless players, like McCarthy and Smallbone, who have been here for years, hold the club back. They have a negative influence on new arrivals. [Post edited 9 Jun 20:37]

Saint22 your dislike of Stephens along with Nick and quite a few others just doesn't make sense to me. I've had a little time today and done my Stephens Stats for 23/24 Championship season...sad I know. In the 23 league games Jack Stephens featured we collected 49 points. Which equates to 2.13 points per game. Overall we totalled 87 points over 46 games which is 1.91 points per game. Quite simply and without any argument we were a better team in the Championship with Stephens in the side than without him....Felly's fun fact of the day. 😁

It was wasted money purely because we didn't see any game time from him, but we should have given him that game time if only for his Prem experience. Not saying he'd have kept us up, no way, but surely he'd have helped in some way

He is an average Championship player at best, I dont have anything against him personally but he has been picked for us endlessly season after season by various managers and has been very poor at many times going way back to when he and vestergaard formed the slowest turning circle in footballs history against Cardiff

That's the thing..as you say, manager after manager keep picking him....I refer you back to the points per game with him him in the side that may give you the reason why.
