| Leicester Not Looking Good Tonight on 08:01 - Apr 27 with 959 views | A1079 | All Leicester have to do is play well for 45 minutes to beat us, which is effectively what they did against Palace. Let us run around like headless chickens in the 1st half, score our obligatory single goal and then hit us in the 2nd half. | | | |

Do you think Ralph knows this, and will change his tactics accordingly? No, I'm not joking.

I wonder if any of our defenders will dive in on Vardy letting him turn them and leave them for dead? Or maybe the will stand off him? The mind boggles

If he has not thought about this game tactically Ron and remember he has had a good time to consider this game, then it would be almost tantamount to negligence. There can be no excuses for this game, we have had a good little break, we do not have a pile of injuries (Romeu apart), they have had time for training routines etc. What I want to see most of all is a 90 minute plus performance and both the manager and players to step upto the plate. It is long overdue, very long overdue. It is not just about skill and ability but attitude and state of mind. They have displayed a chronic lack of mental strength, resolution and robustness both as individuals and as a team. They need to have the desire to compete and not collapse like a pack of cards when a player gets injured, a goal is scored against them or a decision goes against them. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Every manager knows the 2 tactics that beat us:. That is one of them; the other is to counterattack our right flank. Nearly all of the goals against us recently have come from them.

| Leicester Not Looking Good Tonight on 11:36 - Apr 27 with 825 views | Sadoldgit | Leicester’s performance last night is a perfect example of the fine line between success and failure. Quality teams can dig out results despite not playing well. United did it season after season. Liverpool have failed this season because they haven’t done it. We have failed to do it since 5th January. I don’t believe that either Klopp or Ralph have suddenly become bad managers. What they are both struggling with though is the ability to get something from a match when they are below par. In theory it should be easier for Klopp as the quality he has at his disposal is much highe. It just goes to show what a difficult job football managers have and also how difficult it is to sustain a successful run. Someone it seems always has to be held responsible. I’m the past the blame was laid at the door of certain players, then the owner and now it is nailed firmly on Ralph’s door. Unfortunately things are never that simple. For things to go well, you need the stars to be aligned and to have luck on your side. Sadly for us, for several months now our stars have been out of alignment and we have been low on luck. For me the problems are twofold. We have an owner who wants out and a bang average squad that needs to over-perform constantly to get anything out of matches. Will removing the manager solve those problems? No to the first and possibly, short term to the second. Liverpool aren’t about to sack Klopp because he has proved that he is a quality manager. I think the reason the club haven’t sacked Ralph is because they believe he is a good manager. What we desperately need though is a new owner to bring fresh energy to the club and an influx of some quality players in the summer to add some depth to the squad. Without either, and certainly the second, whoever the manager is for the 21/22 season is going to have a tough time of it. | | | |

A very thoughtful and sensible response to the thread SOG and really I don't disagree with any of what you have said. The problems at Saints run deeper than the manager, if indeed he is the problem or one of the problems and that is a moot point. The quality of the squad at his disposal and the year on year failing to purchase quality, hamstrung financially with poor purchases and an owner or owners that seem indifferent to the long term progression of the club have created a feeling of a club that is happy to tread water and expect a manager, any manager to just keep it's head above that water. If I have an issue with our manager and that is despite the time he has now been with us, he still seems to lack tactical awareness or nouse and at times his decision making is strange to say the least when it seems everyone else can see the problem. I respect that it is all too easy to be an armchair critic and management is not easy but it never has been and never will be but you know that when you go into it. The other concern I have with Ralph is what appears on the face of it is his shortcomings when it comes to lifting the squad and injecting a fighting spirit when the going gets tough. Our mental aptitude as a group seems flaky at times when sometimes you just need to dig in as a group. I am not in the Ralph out brigade at this stage not least because as you suggest, replace him but then what? If nothing else changes, at best we will get a short term honeymoon period with another manager/coach and the old season on season problems will soon rear their ugly head again. That said, Ralph's credit is not infinite and he is fortunate that he has Saints fans and not say some other fans who by now would have lost it on mass. He needs to start showing that he is not a one trick pony. It is all very well him saying that he is looking to next season when he and the team need to show some metal in the remaining games of this and not meekly let it go by in the hope Fulham will relegate themselves and these past awful months can simply be forgotten and be brushed aside.

How many teams have actually played well this season? Man City defo, West Ham have exceeded expectations, Everton have been okay but not set the world on fire. Saints have been woeful since the turn of the year but so have most clubs. The games are by and large absolutely dire and joyless despite Sky giving in the big one. By and large it’s been a gap, fallow year and the results and positions almost don’t matter. The state of the squads, morale and mindset of the clubs are what matters come August 16th with fans back in the grounds. I can’t bloody wait,
