| The Ralph Dilemma - Saints 2 points from 10th 21:30 - Oct 19 with 2658 views | Southamptonfan | Good win tonight. Ralph always pulls off a huge result to save his skin. Above Villa, above Everton, above Leeds. It's just not bad enough, is it? [Post edited 19 Oct 2022 21:32]

| The Ralph Dilemma - Saints 2 points from 10th on 21:51 - Oct 19 with 2539 views | saint22 | as i posted the other day Weds by saint22 17 Oct 2022 0:51A win is an absolute must and would put us back up amongst teams
That said it would also give Ralph a stun of execution which is it good in the long run
Mind you defeat will leave us rather adrift already and that’s no good either damned if we do damned if we don't He has to go but its just not bad enough as you say to make the board act, unless they have decent replacement lined up which i doubt!

Swap him for the Forest boss, who is bottom of the league? Or Gerrard? Or some unknown from Switzerland? It could be worse league position wise i suppose. And if they wanted him out, why don't the players f@cking bury him with a terrible performance? They put a shift in tonight. It's really f@cking confusing I think.

| The Ralph Dilemma - Saints 2 points from 10th on 22:01 - Oct 19 with 2500 views | DorsetIan | He's done enough with 4 points from the last two games for a stay of execution. Next 4 (Arsenal H, Palace A, Newcastle H, Liverpool A) are not easy and then it's the World Cup break. I guess he's going to be in post until then at least, so let's see how many points he can get from those four. | |

Going to a back 5 was typical Ralph, Bournemouth were as bad as us and a braver manager would have gone for the 2nd. Noddy celebration at the end.

| The Ralph Dilemma - Saints 2 points from 10th on 23:03 - Oct 19 with 2317 views | ElijahK | I said after we lost to Everton that we HAD TO get at least like 3/4 points from the next 3 games (Man City, West Ham and Bournemouth) and that’s exactly what he got! As he’s had a decent run, a poor run and well these next 4 games before the World Cup start will tell us as to which run this’ll be. As I was at the game and understand why many fans were confused and annoyed that he took off Aribo for Lyanco, whilst leaving the likes of Elynousie on. But at the end of the day we came away with the 3 points today and got our first away clean sheet in like a year, and for all we know if he hadn’t of made that change we might have ended up drawing/loosing to Bournemouth. So overall looking back at those decisions, they may be awkward, but at the end of the day they worked and got us the points we needed! So he certainly shouldn’t be sacked now, and with todays win has guaranteed he’s gonna be staying here until the World Cup starts. As really I’d recover us to win the EFL Cup game and get like 2/3 points from the 4 league games we’ve got until then (Arsenal, Palace, Newcastle and Liverpool), which if he gets then I think he should be staying until afterwards, but until then we’ll just have to wait and see! Ralph is a reasonable manager, despite the dramatic lows and some strange decisions. I don't see we gain anything from sacking him. I thought it was a decent performance tonight, the players certainly gave everything for him. It is a young team that should get progressively better . | |

Yes, I was trying to work out what par would be. Unlikely to get anything from Liverpool, so 1 win and two draws from the other 3 would be a great return. So 5 points max, and 2/3 about par.

No, it’s the first away clean sheet we’ve had in a year (Watford away), as over the last year, we’ve had 7 clean sheets in the league, with Bournemouth being our 8th (which still ain’t amazing, but at the same time isn’t too appalling for the 38 games we’ve played). And seeing how we’ve only had 11 games with any investment in the team, with only half being ones where it wasn’t gonna be an upset/shock result if we did, then yeah it’s not great, but I’m sure than many mangers would do a lot worse. And even then, I’d prefer winning games like 2-1/3-2 than drawing 0-0, as the results are more important than a clean sheet [Post edited 20 Oct 2022 18:53]

That’s why we need to push on and get points on the board. Arsenal, Palace, Newcastle, Liverpool up next before the World Cup break with a tricky cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday in there too. No time to start wà nking each other off over Hassenhüttl just yet. WE MARCH ON WITH A CLEAN SHEET UNDER OUR BELTS
