THB had a solid game today and looked comfortable next to Wood, but he just spends soooo much time on the ball, looking around and then inevitably passing sideways and back. In that last 15 minutes the crowd were screaming to get the ball up field, only for it to go back again.

Agreed he and Stephen’s together should never happen again they are so ponderous and backwards sideways passing it’s been a pleasure not seeing so much of that recently

Yes I agree THB had a lacklustre game.
And yes he clearly thinks he's in a team that is beneath him. And dropping him for a couple of games does not seem to have concentrated his mind very much, if at all.
So what do we do?
If we jettison him, I can just see a repeat of a typical Saints policy, which is to find that a player does so much better away from SMS than when he’s here and we sit ruing the day we sold him.
The problem i reckon is all to do with having far too big a squad as a result of which no one is happy as no one’s position is guaranteed.
Personally I would make THB captain and tell him we will sink or swim under his leadership and see what happens. He surely could not play any worse than he does now. | | | |

I don't think I saw him play a ball forward yesterday even at the end of the game when we're desperate to get forward.
He's been dreadful this season.
He was a luxury yesterday that we didn't need, WS should have changed it at half time by taking THB off & bringng on an extra forward.

I've said before, THB just isn't on top of his game this season. He's still got the 'playing under Russell Martin' mentality in his head. He's way too slow for the Premier League. Other PL clubs took a good, long look at THB in the Summer & decided no, he wasn't for them. You'd have thought at this level, he'd be thriving in the Championship this season but no, there is something not quite right with him. |  |
