Are we still thinking (as a club behind the closed doors) that the target this season is at least the play offs? Can a new manager get enough points and go on one of those late runs that sees us as the in form team come seasons end?
Well, we are gonna need at least 75 points i reckon, perhaps a bit more this season as the top six - ten are all doing quite well and nicking points off each other. Right now, teams on 22 points are on target for about 78 when worked out over a 46 game season. So, let's say we need another 66 points from our last 33 games.
This is exactly 2 points per game, which with this squad should be doable, especially if we get a decent striker in the January window. I am trying to be optimistic here, I know it is all a bit far fetched maybe. But with the absolutely perfect manager chosen, we can still do this and go into the play offs as the inform team.

Agreed.
Let's not kid ourselves, we are not a good team at the moment & most of our players are only very average Championship players.
That being the case then regardless of who the next coach is we are destined to finish in bottom half of the lge & possibly in another relegation battle.
By the way why don't we go back to calling our coaches managers.
They should be called Managers & given far more responsibility instead if just training + coaching & picking a team from players that were chosen by the hierarchy of the club. |  | | |

We are an unbalanced side. There are some good elements but they're all too much alike. We lack experience, physicality and intensity all over the pitch but particularly in the spine. A DOF who knew what he was doing could rectify that a bit in January and hopefully our luck with injuries etc. will improve, but I doubt that will be enough. | | | |
