I'm guessing that's over wireless, otherwise I'd give them a call.

Wireless G tops out at about 18Mb from momory, I have 120Mb Virgin and over a wire sometimes get 135Mb

Same here, I use the cable for my laptop and regularly get over 120. I keep the wireless for everyone else.

Jeez, you guy don't realize how good you have it, lol
I get an absolute maximum of around 2.5MB/s which generally drops to around 0.5MB/s at peak times.

We're due to get fibre here somewhere around 2050 if we're really really good.

I'm in the same boat as you.
You can find mortgage advisors, cash flow advisors, I need a broadband advisor.
No cable in my postcode.

Get one of these to help wit the wireless side;

http://goo.gl/BCbw4s

802.11ac is the newest wireless standard and it looks like it is being accepted now, all new Apple devices have ac cards in them, meaning they can potentially to 1 Gbit over the air. They are backwards compatible as well with all b/g/n devices. I would say all new laptops and smartphones over the next year will be ac compatible. Prices are now dropping for the routers as well.

Other than that get a good "n" router and you should be pulling lot's more than 18Mb.

Lorr, what's your postcode. There are sites that tell you what the fastest speed you can get and then what the best deals are.. I have Talk Talk and although the customer service is dire I also get a mobile contract for 7.50 a month which is best by a country mile.

Cheers Jase, but one thing I'm ok with is my mobile contract.
A couple of my neighbours have Talk Talk. The problem I believe,is being at the farthest reaches of the BT sub station.
Or that's what I've been told anyway.
