Unemployment lowest for 40 years on 13:12 - Aug 22 with 479 views | Badlands | Unemployment rates of around 3 - 4% are needed to allow mobility in the jobs market so the current levels are near perfect for employers. If they drop further it means two thing - 1) costs will rise as employers are in competition with each other for workers 2) more workers will need to be brought in from overseas - in the EU European . out of the EU brown people (ain't life a bitch) Our 20 - 34 year old unemployment rates are higher than 11 of the 30 countries in the EU/EEA. Our figures for this age range would be much higher if we didn't have such high level of people in full-time education.

On point 2, only certain typs of people are against ANY immigration. most people undertsnad the need for immigration and whichever part of the world you're in there is a need for a certain level of movement. Your last paragraph though, it has a certain assumption but it's not a fact. There are many over seas students here and not all will stay, some UK students will also travel after leaving education and some will find work. We have had high levels in education for quite a while, if your point was 100% correct it would be tha case now that 20-34 unemployment would be higher than it is, surely?
