Radio Wales Post Match nonsense. 16:44 - Apr 7 with 3678 viewsBadlands

Tuned in to Radio Wales for post match reaction on the way back the bus yesterday.
Ian Walsh had a real rant about everyone at Swansea being let down by 'owners' who take no interest in the club and are not accessible. If they had invested Swansea could be challenging for the play-offs etc etc. And whoever he was talking too agreed.
A few minutes later he was praising Cardiff for doing so well and fans should be happy and if they had bought players they would be higher up the table; they would have to change their manager; they would have to change the way they play; they would have to appoint someone to be the go-between between the club and the owner. But it was all rosy and they could possibly stay in the Premier League.
Double standards or what?

Poll: Should the summer transfer window close before the season starts?

Another strange conspiracy theory emerges.

We know enough about Woods and how he plays to know that he wasn't going to be £6-7m better than Grimes has been. To say we have "zero idea" how he might have done for us is clutching at some pretty serious straws. He's been worse in every facet of his game than Grimes this season, including his defensive contribution where most critics still think we're lightweight and need an old-fashioned hardman in midfield to battle and scrap. Woods wouldn't have helped that at all.

So why was he pursued right up to the deadline while no one else was?

I listened to that on the way home from the game yesterday, I thought that Walsh made some fair comments about both us and Cardiff.
There is no doubt, in my opinion, that with a little investment in our playing squad we would now be in a play off spot.
Also his comment about Cardiff not playing attractive football was correct, and that they needed to get rid of Warnock in order for the club to sustain a position in the Premier League.
Radio Wales is obviously biased towards Cardiff City but I don’t mind Walsh on there.

Agree 100%.

A little investment could have had us in those playoffs.

Potter really wanted him, not realising Grimes would end up being better in the same role and Woods can't do anything else, and the owners thought Brentford could go down (not up) in price on deadline day as we did with our players. They said as much in the interview they did. And while it was obvious to all of us that it would never happen given Brentford's financial situation, it's entirely believable that they would have thought that.

We also pursued Sean Claire (supposedly failed a medical) and Jairo Reidewald (rejected loan move) for the same position. All bullets dodged, in hindsight. We're stronger for not having got any of them.

Bullet dodged financially, that's a fact with how much sh*t we are in.

We're still short in central midfield.

With Fer and Carroll injured, Fulton "unlucky" not to get more regular games according to Potter, and the best holding midfield prospect in the u23s recovering from cancer treatment. And Naughton proved capable as a backup option, when not asked to play a forward-thinking midfield role.
