Happy that Manning is getting game time but we are resting one of our best players to fit him in. Ok, fair enough,
But....
** Smith *** Jay ***
******* Kasey *****
... means we won't be on the ball that much I fear.
Smith needs to step up, not hide and take responsibility and Jay needs to have one of his better days.
But let's see, the Matty haters have got their wish. | | | | |

Fulton has been our most consistent midfielder and has a bit of go in him. Dhanda is improving and him and Ayew are out only creativity |
Completely untrue.
Jay has been woeful in at leat 2 games and bear in mind he hasn't played that much.

I wouldn't say that really, it's just Cooper has one way of playing and that's that.
DM - Grimes, Fulton
CM - MGW, Fulton, Palmer, Smith, Manning
10 - Dhanda, Palmer, MGW
Wingers - Garrick, Routs, Lowe, isn't Oli Cooper a winger aswell? |
Funny innit, cos I've seen far more dynamism this season (albeit in patches), where fluidity and interchangeability is the mantra - up top and in midfield. I've seen Grimes and Fulton bombing up and pressing hard on central defenders.
Remember our mate Thomas Frank extolling the virtues of our " front 3" and how their midfield and defence struggled to cope.
We're trying to implement something that will take time to develop and adapt to, and takes loads of effort, concentration, focus and fitness. Jay in particular will run out of steam, as will Smith. Grimes suits this style and will learn to take more risks going forward. Not saying we're doing a Liverpool or Man city or a Spain! just yet but I do see us trying to be more progressive and ambitious.
Loving watching how all this is unfolding.
