His share? Didn’t we already sell quotas? We can’t just insist on having them back because a load of xenophobes fell for Bozo’s act.

Maybe it's a declaration of his intention to go to war over it?

How are quotas sold? Are they sold on a time limited basis?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Would you? Bojo is like other politicians, he'll send the troops in but he wouldn't go himself because he's not in the armed forces.

Of course Corbyn would still be talking about talking about it if French warships were sinking British trawlers.

PS, Macron wouldn't actully go to war but it does sound like he's prepared to break international law. Should he go to prison if he does?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Hang on. You've been telling us we're all equal partners for four years. Now you admit Germany is in charge?

It was legal to share quotas within the EU. As we are no longer in the EU quotas to foreign boats not longer apply.

The French fishermen can now fish in the rest of the EU waters.

Ah, I was wondering about that. So what can Macron do then? Very little on the face of it. He could break international law, would that be acceptable to you Kilkenny? What else though? The UK has the right to defend it's territorial waters so any incursions by foreign fishing boats could cause a real problem....we had the Cod wars...and lost, will there be new Cod wars?

Depends who you ask mate.

The smelly UK tory thinks its ok in a specific and limited way apparently.

Most people like me take a more traditional view of breaking the law.
But nobody cares about that anymore.

The EU were responsible for bringing in quotas. So fishing was sustainable. The UK government then were free to sell on their share of the quotas. Which they did, essentially to a few already super wealthy families. (Mates and donors, essentially.) Who then leased said quotas out.

If they did so to ‘foreign boats’ then that responsibility lies with the UK government, not the EU. The UK government would very much like people to be distracted from their corrupt cronyism, and are happy for the distraction.

If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face--forever.

The EU had to bring in quotas as the french and Spanish fishermen had taken all the fish in the EU waters. Plenty of fish left in UK waters. Despite our generous offer to let the French fish in our waters, with a reduced quota of course, macron turned it down. Now the French fishermen have none.
