Just finished watching "Matthews" on Amazon.
Brilliant documentary.
Well worth a watch if you can.
Seemed very much cut from the same cloth as Sir Alan ( Curtis )

I watched it the other day as well, very informative especially after the really odd begining, regularly drive past his old house, how we could do with someone with his trickery next season

I remember watching him play for Stoke against us at the Vetch, it was the early 60’s and he was 48 years old… incredible.

Saw him score against us in 1964, in the 2-2 draw away to Stoke in the FA Cup. He became the oldest FA Cup goal scorer, aged 49 - and I think that was his final goal for Stoke.
He didn't play in the replay down the Vetch, and we won 2-0, on our run to the FA Cup semi final.
He played down the Vetch for Stoke the season before. [Post edited 17 May 2022 13:45]
