It’s a strange one as he is obviously on a big wedge at Burnley.
Not sure how bankruptcy works but to declare yourself bankrupt then still earn 75k a month with no penalty seems very unfair. |
Generally if your go through the court process of bankruptcy then your current earnings are taken into account. As part of any bankruptcy settlement 50% of your earnings after tax NI has to used paid off to your creditors usually for a year but each cases is taken on a cases by case basis. The adjudicator my think someone earning £900,000 a year, if Bellamy is on £75,000 a month at Burnley, may be able to pay his debts of in full. |  |

I’ve worked for a guy that went bankrupt and we started up again under a new name two days later .
I see bankrupt John Barnes around quite a lot . Another who failed to pay the IR.
Most punters don’t ,as companies ensure HM gets her cut .
Bankruptcy is lack of care ,control ,excess and refusal to accept responsibility. | |

And that debt won’t be from his football salary which is taxed at source, that’s additional income. Appearances, dinners , investments etc.
He earned over 20 million in basic football salary not Inc signing on fees apparently.

I seem to remember there were stories of him lighting fags with £50 notes in a Manchester nightclub.

He s not loved hand to mouth as many are right now
