The NHS will never be privatised. Ever.
It's a sacred calf. Even the suggestion of doing so would ensure that the Government involved would lose the next election, and whatever things Governments like to do, losing elections isn't one of them.
It's both a nice guarantee and one of the biggest problems with it. Even the merest suggestion that perhaps throwing ever increasing sums at the NHS isn't the best idea is met with hysteria and confident predictions that the Tories want nothing more than to open up McHospitals.
The most a Conservative Govt will ever do is tinker around the edges. Labour will just keep throwing cash in. There has to be a better way. |  |

The way things are going the NHS actually could collapse. people who would have been seen and treated in a reasonable time 20 years ago are dying before the ambulance is on it's way today.
Patients who would have waited 3-6 months for an operation 20 years ago are waiting 5 years. Staff are leaving in droves and recruitment is falling.
