Merthyr 08:12 - Aug 10 with 6930 viewstrampie

Merthyr win their first match back in the national league set up, Southport apparently had most of the play but Merthyr scored two late goals to win the day, having to play all these Northern teams (Scarborough, Chester etc) being put in the Northern section will be detrimental to their chances this season.

I notice the team that jointly holds the record amount of titles with Merthyr for Southern League titles beat Wrexham yesterday.

Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

Ricardo Rees has just gone to Forest Green and will be a massive loss for Merthyr.

I see Merthyr had a crowd of 3997 at home to Hereford this week.

The league of Wales in comparison had a total attendance of 3000 for their boxing day fixtures.

Now that is a very good turnout.

Merthyr 2-2 Hereford 30th December

I was at the game, it was bloody freezing too.
Merthyr should have been out of sight by half time. They took their eyes off the game and foot off the gas big time. Even go as far to say they were pissing about with the ball when they should have gone for the kill.

Never been so frustrated watching a game end in a draw before.

Anyway bumper crowd, great to see in the valleys.

I don't want to be pessimistic, because they are having a fantastic season, but a few things to take away from that night....

- they would have a lot more of them 4000 fans return for future games if they had made more of an effort to win instead of pissing about.

- Ricardo Rees now left to join FGR

- Can Merthyr keep their play off place with out Ricardo Rees?

My methods are not favoured by some but by god i speak the truth.

Oddly enough a few Jacks have returned to watching Merthyr, three I know are watching them regularly at home in fact if you head Gloucester way there’s a number watching Gloucester City purely for the non league experience which all say is much better.

Don’t know a lot about Merthyr but those I know who do go say they can be a good passing team with as you said a bit of the Russel Martin’s about them. You would expect they have a striker / forward lined up.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.
