QPR hand O’Neill perfect start as Blackburn boss – Report on 19:50 - Feb 16 with 1160 viewsManinBlack

We should remember that Blackburn have won more away games than we have. Earlier in the season they had won five away by mid November but it was their home form that was the problem.

We have been poor for years dictating the play which is probably why we have struggled at home in previous seasons from not being able to take the game to the away side. We did better away from sitting back and taking the few chances we got hence we could win 2-1 away at Burnley and Leicester but we did lose the home fixtures. This is the first season for years we look better at home but we still struggle with possession and controlling games.

It has been unlucky for us that Norwich and Blackburn changed their manager's just before we played them so we lost both 3-1. We have been bad since Christmas and so too have Coventry. This often happens where teams have a good first half to the season and a poor second half and then you have the reverse with Norwich and Sheffield Utd doing much better in the second half of the campaign.

Thanks Clive - Covered everything about this rotten result perfectly.

We all dropped our levels of intensity thinking we were going to get a straightforward win. I include us the crowd in that as the whole atmosphere seemed flat which I guess transpired to the team.

After 50 years of going to “Loftus” I should know and expect Saturday’s result but it still grates me everytime.

Bloody football club……..

Erm….i think what we saw on the pitch transferred to the crowd… It was grim being there and watching THAT.

Scooters, Tunes, Trainers and QPR.

The last sentence of the report perfectly summed it up for me. It’s taken me to today to really get over that performance. You deserve a medal (or maybe a few pints!) for sitting down and writing that match report.

I hate to criticise a young player like Bennie but…..surely Smyth deserved to start that game and not him. He is miles away from a player of Smyths level. First he offered us nothing going forward, their defender covered him easily. He posed zero threat. Then he plays a dodgy simple pass to Madsen that meant Hayden dived in and we lost momentum and they get into our half and leads to the goal for 2-1. Then he plays the very definition of a hospital pass to Madsen in 2nd half. Look, he’s young and does look way off championship level. But look at effort and energy from Moroshita. He was not only the best player on the pitch but playing same position as Bennie, he worked his absolute ass off to put tackles in and was a genuine pest defensively for them. Bennie showed nothing like that. If you’re struggling with confidence, just run around and put challenges in. That’s all I ask for.

A very abject and disjointed team performance with little confidence. Walsh needs to boss the area better for the third goal and Cook was poor (while seeming to be quick to blame other people).

Maybe a bit harsh with the substitutions issue? It seemed the Kone and Madsen injuries/stoppages caused a lot of stop-start and indecision.

I don't mind a bit of stop start indecision if there's injuries, but not 25 minutes worth.

He’s one that would have benefited massively from 6 months with Stevenage. Like Morgan at Luton.
That was the chat in December.

Instead we’ve got ourselves into a position where they’re both having to play, and they’re not ready.
Ideal position now is Bennie is at Stevenage, Morgan is at Luton and Kolli is at Wycombe and it’s sunk or swim time with a view to being first choice in August. We risk killing them using them as we are now.

It’s been obvious since August that the fitness, strength and conditioning of the squad is not where it should be, and it’s putting the manager in a really tight spot short term, and harming development prospects long term.

Kolli should be here for me, but used more.
Morgan should have gone out for the experience and at the right club could flourish.
Bennie wouldn't get minutes. Simple as.
There are lots of on paper good Prem kids, especially in attacking positions, in League 1 & 2, and the national league for that matter not getting minutes.

Not sure how you sell a loan deal to a club when your answer to where does play is "wherever you want him to". OK, what's he good at? ........running around. That's not harsh, it's the truth.

He clearly trains well, works hard on the pitch (he does do that) and is a good lad, but I'm at a loss how he's starting games in the Championship at this point in his development. Might be better going back to Oz on loan, as he seemed to shine down there. He wouldn't get games in L1 & 2.

Just checking... is this the offical date that the QPR End of Season Death Spiral starts this year?

Great stuff.

A draw against Swansealona to confirm mathematic safety it is then.

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal
