There were no surprises when Torsten Bell answered a written question in the HoC to say that there would be no change to the arrangement that prevents UK OAPs living in certain countries from receiving an annual inflation uplift to their pension. The "frozen pension issue" does not apply to pensioners in any EEA country (lucky Keith) , but it does affect those in such locations as Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, Thailand, Vietnam or indeed most Asian or African countries. So if you have a dream to retire to some sunny idyll when you reach pension age and depend on the state pension choose the location carefully.
