You know the drill, yes or no?
We were fortunate to stay up with 37 points last season. Just to go one better and finish with 38 points - an average of 1 point per game and even then no guarantee of staying up - we would need to win as many games as we lose over the remaining 25 games of the season after the inevitable defeat today, i.e. W9 D7 L9 = 34 points, plus the four we have = 38.
Think we'll improve under Redknapp but that's a hell of a mountain to climb.

Yes from me, we are not cut adrift of the others and we have two thirds of the season left with all the really hard away games out of the way after today. However he will need to get in a quality goalscorer , when we were doing ok we were making chances but not taking them. That in turn means that any error the defence makes is more critical. |  |

It seemed that way last year too, but all of the 3 teams who were in the bottom 3 at Christmas significantly improved their points totals over the latter half of the season:
Wigan 15/28 (i.e. 15 pts from first 19 games and 28 from last 19)
