He was fantastic in U-21 World Cup couple years ago, and if I'm not wrong, he had basically no service at Getafe which lead to his goals being down in league. We needed a backup striker so I don't mind it. |  | | |

Alvarez was an U21 Spain international and we all know how good their national teams are. He is 10 years younger than Odemwingie and we've only got him on loan if it doesn't work out. I would have been happy with Odemwingie but I didn't realise that he hadn't played a single game since before Jan 2013 and therefore will not be match fit. We needed a striker who is "happy" to play second fiddle behind Bony for the time being and TBH after seeing how successfull our other spanish players are - bring it on. |  |

Spain under 21 in itself means nothing.
Just look at Liverpools erstwhile Spanish U19/U21 great white hope who has just been sold to a Spanish 2nd division outfit earlier today.
However, that aside I'm pretty excited about this development, although it is obviously critical he sorts out the facial hair issue. | |

I like the signing. We weren't going to sign an established name because Vasquez will probably only start a handful of games if Bony stays fit.
