If Ollie Cooper 21 was sent on loan to Udinese in Serie a it would be a huge shock to most fans right? The boy is clearly talented. still plenty to work on in his game, "one of our own" and needs careful nuturing. No one at all would be surprised if he did not get into the first team of Udine and play 20 games scores 3 or 4 goals. Right?
So why did Cooper send Joel Asoro, 21, "not one of our own" to Genoa for a season while he was clearly not ready? It seems to me fans are quite cruel in saying he has been found out as not good enough. Asoro quoted yesterday saying he had learned a lot at Swansea and Sunderland and Sunderland were a "warm club that helped him". The ommision was clear.
21 and already played in Sweden, UK , Netherlands (where he did OK at 20) and Italy. Ollie has not played a single league game.
Was he treated fairly? or was it just a matter of too big wages and pressure too early ? Same with Brewster and Liverpool. Get him out of the door for a bucket load of cash and do not worry about the kid.

Because he wasn't in Cooper's plans and was still taking a wage.
Shame Asoro has left the Swans with a low opinion of us, but he never showed the correct attitude when playing for U23's etc which is the exact opposite to Kris Peterson for example. [Post edited 9 Feb 2021 11:35]

So Cooper hasn't gone to Udinese and you used a fake scenario to say Asoro was hard done by?
Some you win, some you lose. Asoro was a lose for whatever reason.
Maybe you should be asking why Asoro has played in so many places at just 21? Is it because he's an obvious talent but a bad egg and farming him out on loan was a way of seeing if he'd improve his attitude and be a better player on return.
Why would a club be overly worried about any player who leaves? Once gone it's not their responsibility or concern. They have often spent a fortune developing that player and usually look after them very well whilst there but once they're go, they're gone. |  |

Yes both Cooper and Asoro are the same age. I am suggesting they were not treated in the same way. Ollie Cooper going on loan to Udinese is ludicrous right?
Swansea did not nurture the 19 year old talent properly and get him up to the requred standard tactically. Even a bad attitude can be solved. It could be Genoa have to fullfill the contract and pay the full 12 months helping Swansea to get him back to Sweden. | |
