Well done the Australian government for standing up to these bullies, its about time these US tech giants start paying their dues to the respective governments where they do business.

Absolutely, they are part of society and should contribute their fair share of tax to help rebuild our societies. Never mind the well worn phrase of “we pay all taxes required by the jurisdiction of the countries we operate”. If we can’t get alignment on this from all G7 countries, or G20, What happens if we go it alone and put a windfall tax (as a start) on them for a couple of years, are they going to exit the U.K. market - I doubt it, and if they do will we really be worse off?

I don’t think the moral argument of “you are part of society and should pay your fair share” would deter any further investment in the U.K.
