Pity is the UK gas and oil output ever since it was discovered in the North Sea is relatively small compared to the gulf States. The gulf states are also very sparsely populated and the wealth was only shared amongst the rich elite.
While in the UK the low revenues kept down taxation for the while 67 million population including Wales . [Post edited 14 Nov 2021 17:30]

But I am pro something, I am pro Union. I'm all for the United Kingdom. I am also pro cleaning up politics, I'm pro law and order, pro education, pro NHS, ooh lets not forget pro brexit which leads to I am very pro democracy and what the people vote for, they should get even if its bad decision. That's democracy for you, no guarantee that it'll be a good choice. Nearly forgot, I have recently climbed off that fence and become pro Labour again because Bojo and his brown nosers have gone a step or 20 too far and need ousting.
As that poll tells yo, the Scottish people's will isn't quite where you want it right now, they've become more pro union too.

Trouble is was not all Scottish gas and oil most of the gas was in the English part of the North Sea and a large portion of the oil also. At the time in the 70s gas prices were very low so very little revenue for the United Kingdom. The UK phased out the high polluting Town gas and replaced it with North Sea gas giving the whole of the UK cheaper gas.
Norway has three times the oli reserves of the UK so you lie about having equal reserves is has been proved wrong again. Most of Norways electricity 93% is generated from hydroelectric the rest from wind. Norway has as a small country needs very little of its oil for its own use so has always been a net exporter of both gas and oil which of course is why it is so rich.
The UK has never been self sufficient in oil and the benefits of cheaper gas and oil revenue has been shared equally around the UK.
Your grasps of economics is as poor as your grasp of reality .
You might be interested in a recent poll in Scotland. 53% of voters think only the UK can grant a legal independence referendum while 47% think Nicola can.
