| Is it really going to be Mark Bowen ? 23:20 - May 7 with 915 views | KeithHaynes | AFC Wimbledon’s interim first-team manager Mark Bowen has ruled himself out of contention for the permanent manager position. Mark will be taking a role at a club much higher up the pyramid which will be formally announced next week. Our interim chair Mick Buckley said: “Mark and his assistant Eddie Niedzwiecki joined us on a temporary basis at a very difficult point in the season. “They were excellent to work with, incredibly professional in every area and did everything they possibly could. It's no surprise Mark has now been appointed to a level of football we simply can’t currently compete against financially. “The position of permanent first-team manager, therefore, remains open and we will conduct a proper interview process to select the best-possible candidate for this role. “We would like to reassure all our loyal fans that filling this vacancy is our top priority and we will keep you informed of any developments as soon as we possibly can." Mark added: “Eddie and I really enjoyed our time with the club and I would like to thank all the players and football staff for the open-minded and professional way they embraced us. Although results and luck didn’t go our way, the players couldn’t have given any more. “I would also like to thank Mick and all the club staff for what they do. It’s clear to me that AFC Wimbledon has huge potential to move forward and I’d love to stay in touch like all the previous managers do." ** If both do come to the club I think our Russell may well be looking over his shoulder next season.
