Not sure if its a false memory, but I am sure it was live on TV .
Not a false memory in the 60s BBC Wales regularly showed Glamorgan's county championships matches live. That was especially so when we did not have TV programmes broadcast live 24 hours a day. They would often show the cricket in the daytime when nothing else was broadcast except some awful schools TV programmes. Their commentator was Wilfred Wooler. In the case of this match they had been broadcasting parts of the match in the morning as well as during grandstand where BBC Wales cut away from some of the coverage of BBC 1 and replaced things like motorbike scrambling and horse racing with cricket. Once Sobers had hit his first couple of sixes the BBC Wales feed was switched to the main Grandstsnd programme so his last couple of sixes were indeed shown live nationwide on grandstand.

Peter Walker was still playing back then. After he retired from cricket in 1972 he hosted BBC 2 coverage of the Sunday League where the BBC showed an entire Sunday league match every Sunday throughout the season fron 2pm until 7pm.

Then I was watching it live 11 miles away.
