It’s Tehran in April 1978. Wales are in town and it’s the last time these two countries met 23rd Nov 2022 17:42 Incredibly this was two years before the Iranian embassy siege of 1980, and it would be another year after that before hundreds of thousands would lose their lives in the Iran / Iraq war that went on for nearly eight years. Notwithstanding that this was the second World Cup year that England hadn’t qualified, and this Iran v Wales match was arranged at the behest of the son of the then Shah.0

As they used to say on the 'Bob bank', there's only one Phil Dwyer.
Scotland cheated Wales to reach the World Cup, Wales went out to Iran and beat them on their own patch, Scotland went to the World cup and played Iran on a neutral ground and failed to beat them, just proved Wales were better than Scotland and I kid you not a lot of people over here particularly Scots thought they could or even would win the World cup.
Wales were also robbed in the Quarter finals of the 1976 European championships, in 1977 Wales beat England at Wembley, Leighton James scoring. Wales was a good team around about that time and if Wales had not been robbed in World cup qualifying and the European Championship quarter finals they would have achieved an awful lot more.
Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

yes and if the Shah had only known what was around the corner, he'd still be on the throne today
