| Kyle Naughton ? 17:40 - May 9 with 1767 views | KeithHaynes | I’ve taken this from the latest report on the Swans on the website. > Finally on contracts we do understand Russell Martin’s appreciation of Kyle Naughton. However, players should only be retained if they are able to play at the level required. The Swans surely don’t have that much financial stretch to retain him as a form of mentor to younger players on a professional football contract ? If he is that good as a model professional, and we don’t doubt that, then possibly retain him as a form of educator or coach on a minimum pay scale as he learns the next steps in his football career ? < Any thoughts on Kyle’s position ? What do you want to see the club do ? Full report here. Russell Martin in talks this week on many things, including his contract 9th May 2023 13:49Those who read the site will know that the end of the season brings many different opinions, suggestions and at times downright mad rumours. As supporters of Swansea City and indeed as a website that has many visits a day it’s only right we look back before moving forwards. 0 | |

| Kyle Naughton ? on 18:58 - May 9 with 1594 views | Dr_Winston | He didn't look remotely out of place on Saturday, although that was more of a cameo than anything else. It's a tricky one to call, and for me it depends largely on price. If all we need is an old head in the dressing room to fill the occasional gap 10-15 times a season and a suitably parsimonious contract can be agreed then we could probably do worse. Part of me still expects him to retire though. | |
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

If only footballers were that way inclined to say thank you to the clubs that have made them multi millionaires ( which Swansea have )

Kyle lives a nice life in Swansea presumably and can do cameo roles. He has in excess of £10m (if he has not blown it) in the bank but loves playing. Swansea city are financially stretched losing 250k a week. He could easily take £2k a week and do his badges sponsored by the club. If he sees his post career future in Swansea then why not? This of course puts the future of contracted Brandon Cooper and Wasiri Williams back a notch and they can stay on loan and off the wage bill. Kai Ludvigsen is still in the house and moving closer to the first team if rated by the academy people. Naughton's notional replacement would want £5k a week minimum . Therefore there is £3k that can go onto the contracts of Manning or Piroe. A not unsubstantial £150k a year by the way which would certainly get my attention. Routledge was in the same place and voluntarily took a pay drop which i personally give him great credit for. [Post edited 9 May 2023 19:30]

If we were paying a replacement £5K a week I would expect him to be playing. Naughton if given an extension would seldom play.

| Kyle Naughton ? on 08:33 - May 10 with 991 views | RichardO | Found it quite telling when he played a lovely ball against WBA' into the box on the floor and into space, none of our forwards anticipated the quality ball so it end up looking like a very poor ball. Has played at a higher level and it shows but his decline in pace has been targeted by better managers, can do a job but now needs to be replaced. Wish him well in any future endeavours, would be nice if the club can establish a role for him but you cannot do it for every player coming to the end of their football playing careers. Someone has make to a decision, one that can be very hard for the player himself to do. [Post edited 10 May 2023 14:11]
