That Arsenal sending off, what is happening to the game? …. Crazy.

That second yellow should have been a VAR intervention, regardless of the rules, and the referee asked to review it. He clearly got it wrong. The guy was booked for holding on to the ball for eight seconds for his first infringement. It’s just been mentioned that another arsenal player did the same thing for fifteen seconds. The Ref bottled it.

Fully agree.

Exactly, but when it changes the course of a game or leads to a sending off they should change the rule. Madness.

Last year it was VAR this year it will be yellow cards which will be contentious issues , wasn't Joe was booked for kicking the ball away on Saturday ?

Joey as an experienced pro knew what he was doing, kicked the ball away so as defence could get back into position. He knew he would get booked, but took one for the team.

Never knew getting old would happen so quick!

An awful lot of suspensions are going to kick in early this season.

Joe knew exactly what he was doing and can't complain.
The Arsenal one was just about the softest sending off I've seen.
They can't appeal it either as it was 2 yellows so he gets a 1 game ban as well - bit mad.

Not being able to review a second yellow and not being able to appeal it has always been silly.

You can easily get 2 dodgy yellows and end up missing a very important game.

Likewise I have said that a player who should have been carded but wasnt can be retrospectively punished if we had a citing system like in rugby.

There is plenty of money in the Premier league to fund these things.

With the number if yellows issued on a match day, there’d need to be a lot of panels sitting to deal with the appeals. That’s the problem, there just isn’t the time.
