What a top player Leighton James was fairplay.
His wales record is similar to that of Giggs in terms of appearances nd goals. Giggs was clearly the more illustrious player at club level. Leighton was like a consistent Montero.

I would say that Leighton James best was better than Ryan Giggs best (I won't expect that necessarily to be a popular view but it's my view), Leighton James also stared when Wales beat England at Wembley.
Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

But Giggs would be a better lollipop man ?
Yes, Leighton was a superb player.

How many matches did james miss because he was sh!t scared of his manager?
I do not think they played so many friendlies in those days. The Home nations WC and Euros. Toshack himself did miss quite a few in his latter years as a player from well known injuries that saw jhim released fom Liverpool. The James / Toshack comination should have been irressibile like the Giggs / Hartson. It only happened in flashes.
