Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has issued his prediction for Saturday’s South Wales derby between Cardiff and Swansea, and is tipping the Bluebirds to claim a 2-1 victory.
The clash between these two sides is always a hotly-contested affair, and the position of both clubs going into this one means it could be particularly important in the Championship promotion race.
Hosts Cardiff go into the game off the back of four straight wins, a run that has lifted them to ninth in the Championship table, just four points off the play-off places.
Swansea meanwhile sit fourth in the standings, only one point adrift of an automatic promotion place, having lost just two of their last 12 games going into this clash with their local rivals.
Writing about the derby in his regular predictions column for Sky Sports, the former Nottingham Forest and Leeds midfielder said: “Massive game this! Swansea are right up there, and Cardiff are charging up the table with four wins on the spin coming into it.
“The Bluebirds are banging in the goals, and Swansea have the best defence in the Championship. It’s a tough one to call, the first goal could be crucial, but I have to just give it to the home side.” Whatever you think of his prediction, Prutton isn’t wrong when he describes this as “massive game”.
The fans sadly won’t be there, but both sides will still know how important this one is to them, especially given their respective positions in the table.
Indeed, you would certainly expect this one to be a tight encounter as a result of that, with neither side going to want to give anything away here, so you do feel as though this could be decided by one goal either way.
