He might have read the script. It was like an amateur production done by Albanian TV. Why have Freeman play a scouser and a troubled one at that when it was not even filmed there. Those tenements went years ago,in the 80s;plenty still in London.

I thought Freeman did a fair scouse accent , its just a drama about a rogue cop on the edge , its quite funny too, it was written by an ex Liverpool copper , ten years experience

Well we disagree. It a hard accent to get off accurately. I worked over there for 40 years. Parts of the city have quite different accents, not unlike Langland/Mayals- Mayhill. NO OFFENCE I could have done better myself . It was not authentic although those down south will no doubt have gorged on another Liverpool bashing programme.

Of course with your 40 years , you know more than anybody about the reality of Merseyside policing, but it was a drama , don't take it so seriously , nobody is going to think that's a typical copper

I do expect these days dramas to be accurate and well acted. I felt this isn’t. I thought The new ITV Sunday was also ludicrous but more entertaining. Anyway,a pleasant exchange of views ,so thanks. Enjoy your day We re off out to lunch to see if Wales has gone for good so heavy is the cloud over

I could understand your angst if it was Dick B Van Dyke trying to pull off the accent but ?

I’m sure you didn’t. It d be normal Liverpool for you. Now,imagine a South Wales town always being portrayed as a town of bin dipping scum.

Funny how most of the Liverpool bashing comedies were written by Liverpool born writers. Carla Lane who wrote the Liver Birds and Bread comes to mind. Wonder if she wrote from personal experience of living there.
