The stepfather went to some lengths to cover up the murder (how many times have we heard that before!) which is damning in itself, add to that the lies told. But despite that?.......You can bet your bottom Dollar that he will appeal!
That appeal will happen because there are always callous and unscrupulous individuals willing to help evil killers even when it involves the murder of a child.

That should be the outrage, but most people will have forgotten about the horrific murder of this little child, and so will the parole board when they decide to release them. |  |

They concoct defences ,which,is fail then lead to "mitigation" which means please don't give my client a long sentence as he has drink/drug/social problems.Witnesses sweat in the box,the perp do not. It's a game.
Police will be blamed as will social services but the key question is why we have so many children born into circumstances that are anathema to a stable,hopeful upbringing.
Think I 'd better butt out of this right here as Im getting angry
