| Another glorious day for the European Union on 13:58 - Jul 26 by Lohengrin | Do you recall them laughing at Trump in Berlin when he pointed out the folly of reliance on Nordstream 2? I doubt there’s half as much merriment in the Bundestag now… [Post edited 26 Jul 2022 13:59]

I'm definitely no Trump fan but he did get some very big calls right and this was obviously one of the biggest. Some people accuse Trump of being pro Russian, a Russian puppet even. Unless his words were a massive double bluff it proves them very wrong. Russia always plays the long game, they invagled their way into Europe, they pretended to be friendlier to the West but, it seems to me, it was always part of a devious plan. Thing was, the West desperately wanted to believe the cold war was done and dusted, that Russia was no longer a threat; they went ahead full steam with letting Russia into the western World more and now Putin has bitten everybody massively on the rear end. Thing is, since the EU started talking about doing this, Russia has again reduced gas supplies to the West. They're facing rationing in Germany (or has it already happenedj so thank goodness the UK isn't as exposed though the prices will still rise. People think globalisation is a good thing, maybe some will be thinking differently by now. Allowing foreign powers to own large parts of your infrastructure or to supply you a lot of essential services isn't a great idea. Countries need to build their infrastructure to be as self sufficient as possble. | |
