| Allen being subbed by Cullen 23:02 - Aug 28 with 1164 views | onehunglow | Anything less edifying? A talented international, albeit getting back to scratch, replaced by an utter nonentity. Joe must be seething Martin seems to have little class as well as idea. Im hoping Joe had words | |

| Allen being subbed by Cullen on 23:24 - Aug 28 with 1136 views | ReslovenSwan1 | An unpleasant post. A veteran player of 32 being substituted by a player battling hard to build a career for himself and now at the point of no return, You may have noticed Swansea and south Wales in general does not produce number nines. Defenders in abundance but not centre forwards. It is incredibly hard to do. Swansea fans were quick to slag off solid players from outside Wales who played in the white shirt like Courtney Baker Richardson, Surridge and Goykeres but in truth they were miles ahead of any Welsh prospect over the jenkinista era. It seems at 10 or so kids were funnelsed into being defenders. Could Cameron Evans of Joe Lewis have been squared jawed number 9s? New kids on the local block vying for the no 9 hot seat include Josh Thomas, Goff Bony and Iwan Morgan. Perhaps Cullen could get in the gym and bulk up and work on his heading but that depends on his genetics. He needs to drop down the leagues as he could not get games in league 1. He should not be written off. Ryan Hedges recently returned and tormented his old academy buddies. Too be a slight player in the championship he has to be super sharp making darting runs like Jason Bowen. | |

| Allen being subbed by Cullen on 10:27 - Aug 29 with 951 views | swanseaswan85 | I thought Cullen came on and gave more energy than both Obafemi and Piroe combined. I think Allen was being protected, Martin thinking game was over and rolling the dice. Academy prospects, I have been impressed by Josh Thomas, appears to real pace which defenders dislike. Have heard Rohan Davies is likened to him whilst I don’t think Bony will make the grade from what I have heard. Iwan Morgan appears to be one who is being seen as a player who could make it in the first team. | | | |

Many fans of Swansea are under 30 years old. John Hartson the most recent of your names came through at Luton via Swansea 30 years ago abut the same time as Bellamy. If Iwan Morgan or Josh thomas or Bony if he choses Wales come through they will be trailblazers. Isaak Davies is making a fist of it at Cardiff, Simon Haworth was half decent. Many fans have not witnessed one good number 9 from south or north Wales for that matter. Iwan Roberts Garth Taylor back in the day.. All others are English born and bred. At one time Wales had too many CF s Toshack, Wyn Davies and Ron Davies in the same team. Ron once scored 4 at Old Trafford. It is a real tough job for Cullen to make the big time. No one else has done it. Last season Swansea u21 had Jaden Forrester 6 ft 2in or so. Not very good but better than anything coming through the ranks. He did not use his size and was too nice was released. [Post edited 29 Aug 2022 12:36]

I challenge you to name Welsh centre forwards coming though Swansea Cardiff and Newport in the last 25 years. Remember millions have been spent on academies. Cardiff and Swsnsea have performed well over the last 20 years. You should know by now being in the majority does not mean you are right. In fact it usually means you are wrong.

Ah right you are fetching a timescale into it now, which you didn't in your first post. And you were rightly picked up on it

The statement was made today and focussed on today not half a century ago. The thread is about Cullen. If he hits some red hot form he will be a trailblazer. He needs to do whatever he needs to do. He knows haw hard it is especially with some fans keen to put the boot in. John Charles are Trevor Ford were in the pomp before I was born. The production line ended with Hartson and Bellamy. Sadly their sons do not seem to have made the grade. [Post edited 29 Aug 2022 13:25]

Rush and Hughes cme out of the woodwork 40 years ago. Vernon? Before my time. Last 25 years nothing. FAW keep patting themselves on they backs, though. Welsh way . Cannot pass and English number 9. Vokes and Moore are not world beaters. [Post edited 29 Aug 2022 14:33]

Vernon might have been but NE Wales has a proud history of Welsh players including forwards. Know your history innit Scousers to you they may be but they are as proud to be Welsh as you and anyone in the valleys. Don't forget that. Wales is more diverse than you think. We are a broad churchor should be.

The well is dry. Wrexham have one or two youngsters perhaps.
