| Chesterfield 15:52 - Mar 7 with 1162 views | builthjack | Lost £2.38 million last year. A couple of fans have put a million in between them, but they can't survive like that. They are in the National League. | |

| Chesterfield on 16:18 - Mar 7 with 1105 views | Dr_Winston | Clubs have to live within their means. It's becoming an existential issue now when teams all up and down the football pyramid can't help themselves but overspend. Much of it is irresponsible management, but supporters have to take a long look in the mirror themselves. How many people on these forums alone are bitching about how much we've spent recently when it's clear that the club is probably already spending too much? It's not just us either. Liverpool have been hugely successful under FSG, but now they're not winning things the pressure from fans to spend even more remains. | |

Average salary in the National League is about £1300 a week. Some are on lots more . A squad of 25 will set you back about £1.7m. management, coaching staff will take it over the £2m. Then there is all the other expenses. That’s just an average club. If you are going for promotion you can triple that.

I wonder what Wrexhams running costs are, Mullin alone must be coining a bit.

You don't need to look far to see that football at many levels is devouring itself , even in the JD Cymru league ridiculous amounts of money is being a spent on players wages with not the gates to sustain it .

It is the nature of it. I keep banging this drum, but no fanbase has ever demanded that their team spend less. Until that changes, nothing else will.

Covid 19 was an unprecedented event. No fans for months and Ayew and Borja on the wage bill. It is so sad that apparently sensible people like you still call them "clowns". If you want to chase Silverstein and his money away carry on with the abuse. He is a brave US man amongst cowards prepared to invest in this club. Invest in Swansea and get called a 'clown' or a 'sellout' by educated people who have lost their very soul. If I was religious I would give you something profound from the bible to prove the error of your ways.

Sorry A club, similar in size to us, PNE owner Craig Hemmings says "The way that central media monies are paid creates massive challenges for those of us in the Championship trying to compete. It costs about £24 million pounds each year to keep us going. Towards this we receive approximately £2.3m from season tickets and a further £7.3m in total from the EFL and Premier League. After other income streams, that leaves my family with an annual shortfall of around £12m which we have to put into the club each season."

How much do you honestly think it costs to run a Championship club? I'm thankful the 'Clowns' are running us in a sustainable way

So whose fault was it that the club has run up a £16m deficit ? The fans, Russell Martin, the Trust ??

Who says there is a £16m deficit?. What we understand that £16m has been invested or loaned to the club. Some of it has been to reduce debts but some of it will be in the current account perhaps for cash flow reasons. Moneys are still due for Downes perhaps as much as £10m. If the model is mid table teams break even then ticket prices and season tickets are too cheap and players wages like Grimes and Ntcham are too high. These two are the best paid players and should be head and shoulders the best performers driving the team forward and pushing the "young men" to stay focused.
