What is the situation with Kristian Fletcher? 22:00 - Oct 30 with 1483 views

This highly rated youngster has turned up at Swansea from DC United and played very well by all accounts.

He is on loan until December and the manager has talked of giving him a chance in the first team squad and "having a look at him. No guarantees".

I believe from what I have read that DC Unitd are prepared to sell him to Swansea City who may have an option hence the "having a look at him" quote.

The reason for this (my speculation - not making thing up) is that his contract remaining is relatively short, he is very ambitious and wants to play in Europe. He has a UK passport.

DC unable to get him on the field under Rooney cannot offer him his primary wish so selling to Swansea makes sense as they own Swansea as well. In this case both they and the player are happy. If Fletcher kicks on a 'Piroe type' transfer fee plus is possible for Swansea city where Coleman is calling the shots. DC would want a chunky sell on percentage I would think.

Duff will be reminded that two stellar low cost forwards walked out the door on loan at Swansea. Surridge and Goykeres. Cooper had a good look at both and passed on an offer for either. Both were sold 2 years later for over £26m. Ouch!. Players like this are real hard to find.

On loan DC United forward Kristian Fletcher has all the confidence in the world and as he has shown already he has a keen eye for goal. Eligible to play for Scotland, Kristian holds a UK passport which made his loan signing which brought him to Swansea so much easier in September.

I would expect he and a few others who were missing have been added to the first team training group this week to cover for the first team players who were involved in that game. Unlike many of the u21s he hadn't had the chance to work with the manager directly yet.
