Free the young ponies. Let them run. 14:53 - Nov 23 with 965 viewsReslovenSwan1

Swansea u21 play brilliantly at home but their open free flowing style gets h neutralised away sometimes with the opposition doing a high press. The coach let the side down v Villa by not making substitutions in a game that was won. Here though Swans u21 were in complete control and electric Wilson getting better and better.

Is it time for Duff to unleash Wilson Smith and Congreve.? As I have said before Swansea lack pace and are boring. I am not travelling to Yorkshire to watch Jay Fulton and Grimes lowering the tempo. These three are anything but boring. Congreve is a bundle of tricks with a set piece (Swansea should always have tricky players) and Smith and Wilson are electric fast and can graft.

Congreve, has he impressed on his few first team run outs?

In his cameos under Martin, Congreve looked to have a lot of potential. Pace, willingness to run at and commit defenders and could look after himself physically which is pretty impressive given his age.

On the flip side, he was positionally naive and his decision making on the ball wasn’t the best. I’d like to think we’ve worked on that a lot. I think he was 18 at the time and a lot of it is probably just experience.

I only watch the first team, so don’t know how he’s doing now. Would you say he’s improved that side of his game enough? If he has, I’d be more than happy to see him given playing time.

And I'd agree with that but say he hasn't impressed. maybe he needs more chances. it's difficult for a player to impress when he's only given fleeting opportunities and without more first team game time how can he lay a serious claim to a spot?

If he's good enough then give him a fair go.

I don't watch the U21's so I can't comment on the other names.

From my point of view he looked like he could be a real asset, but was way too raw and naive. Hardly surprising for an 18 year old playing in the championship. Impressed in a way, but clearly wasn’t ready.

There are a few on here who watch the U 21s regularly. I’d be interested in their opinion.

I would say Azeem is pick of the crop followed by Wilson Congreve and Smith. Azeem 'lords it' over others at this level and clearly is done with u21's . Like like watching Lissah and Bates.

The u21 play lovely stuff and Anthony Wright looks like a purist Martinez type coach. A 3-1 up against Villa with 10 to go he could have brought on two or three subs and parked the bus and won or got a point.

Congreve playing central striker from these short clips. Welsh central strikers are rare as rocking horse teeth to mix my metaphors. Such chances have been known to kick start careers.
