Our only managers to have lost more than they won since the PL are Duff and Luke Williams. Martin had 36 of each.
This is a little bit like when you kept insisting Levein and Kaplan were good owners. |

Blunt and dour is just fine, but you’ve got to back it up.
His football made Wrexham look like prime Ajax, we lost every week and he still managed to be smug about it. I’m not sure if it was arrogance or delusion. |

He had this odd combination of arrogance and incompetence. Genuinely seemed to believe he was far more capable than he was.
Our worst start to a season for over 100 years while playing aesthetically diabolical football didn’t help him either. |

One of the very few ex players I hope makes as little of his career as possible. Doesn’t look like I have to worry about Obafemi.
Happily, Walta doesn’t seem to be that way inclined. If it’s purely a football decision, I agree with those who say it seems a strange one. |

Nah, both those players came here with form and carried that form on to their subsequent clubs. Whittaker is probably PL level talent wise and he’s in the MLS. Obafemi was physically fat last time I saw him actually play. Both are mid twenties and should be in the prime of their careers. Bad apples are bad apples.
But, if Keith is saying Walta is nothing like that, it’s good enough for me.
Football wise, I don’t think our heavy pressing system, three up front system can accommodate a flair player who doesn’t do a lot defensively or off the ball, but I do agree with you we at least need that type of player in the squad when we’re trying to unlock teams like Wrexham and Sheffield United. We’ll undoubtedly face plenty of sides who just look to shut games down.
Matos said something along the lines of ‘we signed Leo to play for Swansea, not to play every minute’. I agree with that but we need that type of player in the squad. |

Quite possibly.
On the other hand, and I’m playing devils advocate, not for a minute saying it’s the case, if he’s another Whittaker/Obafemi type then getting him out on loan makes a lot of sense. |

Yes, he’s always shown glimpses, it’s the consistency now.
I’m sure Matos does deserve credit for it, but a lot of it is down to the work he’s put in himself. He’s clearly stronger, is deceptively quick and wins more headers than he used to. He’s just a better all round athlete. On top of that, he’s more confident and has built a good understanding with the players around him. I agree, he’s always had ability but flattered to deceive for a while.
The team goal where Idah squared it to him - he wouldn’t have scored that early in hs career here, he wouldn’t have been able to sprint that far that hard and get himself in front of the defender.
On the #10 point - I’m not sure we play with that kind of player anymore. I assume people mean Gylfi Sigurdsson/Pablo Hernandez types. I don’t think we have room for a luxury player when we’ve got an out an out front three. Just is more the most advanced of our midfielders than the type of player I’d consider a #10. So is Widdel when he plays there. |

I can see the argument for it, but I’d rather him where he is. You get a lot less time and space in the middle. I like him running at isolated fullbacks |

It’s easy to forget how long it took some of our players to find their feet, Eom himself being a prime example and now he’s one of our best players.

All speculation but if Matos puts huge emphasis on team harmony and doesn’t let individuals get in the way of that, then so be it.
He’s integrated a bunch of new players, they all run themselves into the ground and play like a well drilled unit. You can see how together they are after the games.
If Walta, Monga, Galbraith, whoever else are casualties of that, I’ll live with it. |

The three week thing is slightly out of context. We don’t call it a one week break between every Saturday game, it’s just the normal season.
We’ve missed two weekends here and a further one next month.
The actual debate is just people who aren’t interested in international football missing their club football. I don’t agree with them, but I think it’s a valid point of view.
Anything about injuries, tiredness doesn’t account for the fact that every team in the Championship has players on international duty. It’s not as if it disadvantages us specifically, that’s just pessimism. |

Wales have 8 games this season (plus 2 after it finishes), the Swans have 48 minimum, more if we’re in the playoffs or have a run in the FA cup |

People not getting back for the start of the second half and then getting in others way is a personal bugbear. It will only get worse if drinking in the stands gets introduced.

Gorringe gives the impression he’s always a few moves ahead. Just seems calm and in control.
As incredible and enjoyable as our rise under Jenkins and co was, I never really got that feeling. It felt like they were winging it, just doing so spectacularly well. |

I get the frustration at two weekends without the Swans when we’ve got so much momentum, but on the other hand, we had five starters (if you include Lissah) and four on the bench who are new to the club at Lincoln. Despite how we’ve been playing, we’re a new team.
A bit of time with the players not on international duty may really help Matos out.
Plus it co-inciding with the Asian games means we only actually lost Eom for two games and we won them both anyway.
I’m looking forward to Swans v Norwich more, but I’m still really looking forward to Wales on Sunday. |

I prefer the club games too.
That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy the internationals, even if I didn’t, I wouldn’t get pissy about them every time they came round. Nobody is going to stop international football and incessant whining about it detracts from this board. Most people who aren’t bothered by it just keep their heads down until the season restarts.
Fact remains, we’ve had a hell of a lot of football to watch the last few weeks. |

Personally, I’d prefer a slightly shorter, uninterrupted season with all the international games at the end of it. Same amount of games, same amount of time.
Unlike many on here though, I do enjoy watching Wales. Six games within three weeks if you support club and country. |
