Brentford B centre back joins the academy 18:25 - Aug 10 with 1652 viewsKeithHaynes

Gregory Asemokhai

Centre-back Gregory Asemokhai has joined Swansea City Under-21s' side, subject to the relevant clearance.

Asemokhai has signed terms in SA1 through until June 2028.

The centre-back had a unique entry into full-time football, having joined Brentford from the Elite Coaching Academy (ECA), an institution dedicated to nurturing young talent for careers in professional football.

The 19-year-old missed the majority of the 2024-25 campaign due to injury, but impressed throughout his 26 appearances for Bees’ under-18s which saw him promoted to the under-21s side.

He made nine appearances for Brentford B last season.

Head of academy recruitment Paul Robinson said "Gregory brings a commanding aerial presence and physicality to the defensive unit.

"His left-footed balance provides valuable versatility in the build-up phase, while his athleticism and defensive presence enable him to compete effectively in aerial and one-on-one situations. Gregory's composure, defensive awareness and willingness to play on the front foot make him an exciting young defender with significant long-term potential.

"I believe that Gregory is a player with the attributes to develop within Swansea City's environment, and his combination of size, technical quality and future potential makes him a valuable addition to the club's defensive options."

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

With Heywood promoted to 1st Team does this mean we'll be in the market for another CB or does this signing give us the additional cover whilst Burgess is out?

Asemokhai (U21 but can/will step up if required)

He played last season alongside Straitham Bowen. Jack Fanning and Blair McKenzie are out on loan I think Four sturdy characters in the u21. Hopefully one of them can make it in the first team .

Fanning is at Briton Ferry Llansawel. McKenzie at Waterford.

Both need to be standouts. Cameron Evans and Josh Thomas went on loans just to end the contracts. I suspect these guys have got to make an big impression at that level..
