Countdown to the end of Democracy in the UK

Minor point, but we can’t have legally binding referendums. They can only ever be advisory because of the primacy of parliamentary sovereignty.

Celina

He’s not in this case, as he played two up front in Celina’s season with them (Waghorn and Garner). So he wanted two defensive minded CMs in the middle of the park. Celina was also still gaining experience and it’s not uncommon for younger players to start their careers out wide and then move central. McCarthy did the same with Mings - played him left back, but now he’s getting rave reviews as a CB.

Since he’s been with us, Celina has clearly been better in the centre. He is the best option we have for on the left too though.

There’s more that a wiff of his type in No 10 already. Some of Boris’ past ramblings touch on many of these issues of racial and class supremacy, albeit a little more subtly.

Agreed. He deserves a mention in his own thread.

I know Naughton is solid at left back, but it makes a noticeable difference having a natural left footer on that side who gets forward and can whip in crosses from outside his man. He’s not the quickest, but if Grimes does his covering job properly he doesn’t have to be.

I don’t like singling out young players, but he seems a bit of a weak link doesn’t he.
Difficult for him though, playing in an unsettled back 4 without a senior partner. That’s where Cooper’s approach breaks down. Pair him next to someone like the Ash of old and he’d probably do a lot better (see how Caulker and Masson had the best seasons of their careers in our settled defences).

Anyone else feeling the nostalgia for Bobbly? This is straight out of his playbook.

But then he does that. Such a frustrating player!

Superb from Brewster and then Ayew, predictably, is selfish and we lose a chance.

Ayew’s goals are welcome of course, but he’s a hindrance to team play. A good player, but a selfish one, and a luxury when the goals dry up. We saw this first time round with him. Dan ended up being a far bigger influence last season.

He’s got a permanently confused look. He reminds me of when I was a kid and we’d carve faces in apples and then dry them out in the airing cupboard.

Bollox. Goal.

Alternative politics (any party) isn’t an option at the moment as too many people have been conditioned to believe propaganda.

Because we’re playing him where he can have an impact. I’m amazed Cooper’s taken 2 games to put him back behind the striker. He created a great goal the first time he played in that role.

You get a different perspective when it’s on tv. The defending 5 mins ago by Naughton was excellent, but if I was at the game at at the other end I’d probably be slagging him off for not clearing it!

Yep, and the re-take of the corner. And all the faffing around with free kicks around the box. He was desperate to give them a lifeline.

We've suspected a continued slump for ages, once we got past that unexpected good start. I'd say the slide has been pretty much inevitable (and we'll slide further).

But, weirdly, I've found it fascinating to see it all unravel pretty much as expected. Like watching a train crash in slow motion knowing you can do nothing to stop it or warn anyone. Odd I know.

Don't really watch Sky, so hadn't appreciated the levels of stupidity we're talking about here.

Needed to keep Declan John is we were going to play with wing backs. Naughton is as good a marauding wing back as I am. Would suit Connor though.

Yep something is definitley not right. The players seem mentally way off, lots of frustration, finger pointing, whinging and resignation/distinterest when it goes wrong.

I also noticed when they came out for the second half nobody except Freddy acknowledged the crowd. OK, it was quiet and there were plenty of maons and groans first half, but they were weelcomed back onto the pitch and ignored us - no connection at all. The look like they don't want to be there.
