Could the OP give the background to this thread please? I've no idea what it refers to. Cheers.

Worst teacher back in the day? Name and shame...
at 11:20 17 Feb 2020

There was a horrible physics teacher in Glanafan, Port Talbot in my era, late 60s early 70s, can't remember his name, maybe someone can help me out, Darran perhaps?
He was shortish, balding, used to wear steel rimmed Gestapo specs with a blue tint. Used to wander round behind the rows of pupils all perched on those high stools in front of the benches in the physics/chemistry lab. The boys never knew when they were going to get a sharp dig in the ribs or his specialty, grabbing the bottom of your sideburns (very bushy in those long haired days), twisting them around then ripping them upwards with a jerk.
He used to come up behind the girls and fondle them unashamedly as they sat rigid with fear. Would be behind bars in very short order these days, the sadistic pervert!

Feck me, that's probably the first and only time Tonna is going to be featured prominently on the national BBC News.
You boys and girls take care out there. I'm thinking of you as I luxuriate in the sun and 20 degrees plus temperatures here.

Tears for Fears BBC4 now

Great band. This programme soothed me a bit after the Swans debacle.
It's always interesting to hear how various classic songs came about. Those two producers on the mixing desk seemed to have a big hand in some of them. Loved the story about Roland strolling around and occasionally strumming two chords which he didn't know how to develop. Then the boy on the mixing desk added some drums and base, the late wife heard it, said "this is great!", and the rest is history. Everybody Wants to Rule the World. The most evocative pop song of the 80s for me.

Little b*stard needs a good clip round the earhole!

On a related note, went to see JoJo Rabbit last night, highly recommended, although perhaps a little derivative of Wes Anderson for you movie buffs out there..

The trouble is, Loh, putting that tick in the box is giving these scumbags carte blanche to behave in that way. People need to think about what they are supporting, not just vote Tory because they think Boris has got nice hair.

The Tories really are a pile of shyte and Boris's latest cabinet collection of scumbags, liars and hypocrites really are the bottom of the barrel.

Anyone who votes for them ought to hang their head in shame, but they won't, because they crawled out of the same pile.

Walking football
at 08:55 13 Feb 2020

No, this isn't a thread about the Swans' current style of play!
Do any of you older guys play walking football regularly? For those who don't know, WF is a form of the beautiful game for older players who would find flat out running for an hour difficult but who still want to enjoy the skill and fun of footie.
I run the WF group for Oliva U3A (an expat organisation) here on the Costa Blanca. We play for an hour every Friday morning on an outdoor five a side pitch at the local sports centre. When we have the numbers, we can also play on a bigger artificial turf pitch next door. We have a hard core of about 12 guys but have had 16 or 17 turn up in the past. The players range from 50 to early 70s, mostly Brits but also Dutch, Argentinian and Romanian.
We'd only been going two months when we were invited down to Moraira to take part in an eight team tournament including two visiting UK teams, and ended up as losing finalists. I was the manager - watch out, Cooper.
So if anyone plays and wants to bring a touring team over, let me know.

The 'Boris' bridge from Scotland to N Ireland
at 16:55 10 Feb 2020

Only 15 miles wide, but 300 metres deep in the middle and filled with unexploded WW2 ordnance.
The supporting piers would need to be the height of the Eiffel Tower just to break the surface.

Is the PM a true transport visionary, or a self aggrandising Tory twรกt full of hot air and bluster?

Opinions, please.

How could ref award Ireland's third try if he coudn't see if it was grounded, and because of the number of bodies around it, the video official couldn't see anything either?

Nail. Head. Hit.

This is a critical moment in Labour Party history. I think if they choose anyone other than Starmer, and it's a real possibility thanks to McClusky and Co working behind the scenes, they'll be well on the way to becoming a minority fringe party.
