I suspect that previous posted comments regarding Gorringe's divisive management style has prevented Gorringe from carrying out his plans to recruit people he has direct control over. His past employment record in football is not impressive, the US owners have only themselves to blame if things don't work out at the club. |

People who had to deal with Gorringe at Bristol Rovers are staggered that he was appointed to any admin position at Swansea City let alone end up as CEO. Before he was sacked by the new Kuwaiti Rovers owners Gorringe had rid the club of all of its long term employees, many winning their cases of wrongful dismissal with the assistance of a HR lady, Louise Smith employed by the club. Detested by those working at the club, she had ice running through her veins she even became football club Secretary before being sacked by the Kuwaitis. She was so ruthless in carrying out the staff cull that Gorringe rewarded her by ending up in a relationship with her, leaving his wife and six children and living with her in a flat above a sweet shop on the Gloucester Road near the ground disregarding the fact the woman was fifteen years older than him and married herself, this soon became common knowledge throughout the club. When the Swansea owners decided they needed someone as a COO they approached a specialised recruitment company. It is more than likely that the HR lady was behind firstly identifying the position and secondly drafting Gorringe's CV on his behalf. You would have to presume that the CV was not exactly accurate as he left Portsmouth after the club had gone into administration twice, shown the door at Cardiff City and then incredibly leaves his home town club Brighton of which he is a life long supporter before they were promoted to the Premier League to join lower league Bristol Rovers as commercial manager, eventually being sacked there as well. However, he still claims he worked for a Premier League Club. I can't help but believe our US owners didn't carry out proper due diligence and take outside references on Gorringe rather than naively trusting a head hunting recruitment firm's word for it.
Gorringe gives the impression of being hopelessly insecure which is not surprising as he is now on his fifth club and still only thirty seven. He appoints people to wrap themselves around him who then feel they have to owe him one. Mangan at the training ground a classic case, will the HR lady get a job at the Club and is Eddy Jennings (Joey Barton's Batman) still hovering as the new DOF ????

My nephew worked at Bristol Rovers Academy whilst Gorringe was on gardening leave there. Gorringe did nothing but suck up to the scouse mafia headed by Don Barton. We have already seen one of the scousers take up a position at the club until the supposed end of the season, Andy Mangan. However, it will be interesting to see if the new imminent appointment of a DOF isn't another of that scouse team at Rovers. Eddy Jennings was head of football operations at Rovers and a very close companion of Barton. When Barton was fired the new Kuwaiti owners not only fired Barton but very quickly rid themselves of the scouse contamination and Jennings was soon on his way joining sports lawyers Beswicks in Stoke. He didn't last long there and set up his own agency in Liverpool in October 2025, Legacie Sports and Leisure. It will be very interesting to see who the new DOF turns out to be, if it turns out to be Jennings then the US owners need to take a closer look at the way decisions are taken at the club and how they are arrived at. Jennings like Gorringe has had many jobs associated with football but never lasted in any of them ! |
