Swans v Clarets : Both managers face harsh decisions TEAM NEWS
Saturday, 12th Sep 2026 09:10 by Swansea Independent

Swansea City will take on a beleaguered Burnley side this afternoon at 3pm with tickets in the south stand still available for home fans. When we say beleaguered that is no slight against them as a club, but their league (get it) position is not a healthy one.

Team News is in :

Can’t always be spot on, good choice though.

Swansea City: Lawrence Vigouroux; Josh Key, Ben Cabango (captain), Stephen Welsh, Josh Tymon; Marko Stamenic, Stephen Eustaquio, Melker Widell; Elijah Just, Moussa Yeo, Adam Idah.

Substitutes: Andy Fisher, Jenson Seelt, Jay Fulton, Zan Vipotnik, Goncalo Franco, Tiago Parente, Filip Lissah, Joseph Opoku, Ronald.

Swans head coach, Vitor Matos will have to decide on his centre back pairing, Ben Cabango played the full match at Southampton. He received some bad press from fans on the way he slowed the game down and didn’t see clear passes ahead of him. Unfortunately this has been ingrained in him for years. The Swans conceded three goals in that game. Up until that point as we know the centre back pairing of Stephen Welsh and Filip Lissah was utilised with Lissah also covering right back in lieu of Josh Key. One goal conceded. The decision Matos needs to make is should he play with the two centre backs who returned clean sheets or make way and put Cabango in.

The same goes up top with Adam Idah and Zān Vipotnik. Both have proven qualities and Zān somehow earned a penalty and then converted it in true fashion. That for us is enough to see him start the game today. It’s unlikely Matos will drop him after scoring a goal, albeit a penalty you have to out the ball away.

We also think Cabango will start.

Burnley have Jacob Bruun Larsen definitely out, Anel Ahmedhodzic is fifty fifty and Dastan Satpayev is being treated at his parent club Chelsea. Josh Cullen, Hannibal, Enock Agyei and Jaydon Banel are all out. The following are either injured or have been left out of the twenty five man permitted squad or recently been given *permission to play by the EFL. *Ben Amos, Jordan Beyer, Bashir Humphreys, Shurandy Sambo, Marcus Edwards, Mike Tresor, Ashley Barnes and Michael Obafemi. Obviously this list can change quickly with permission.

That’s Burnley, the club have come down and have clear Premier League obligations still, and have a manager who really has little or no experience of the Championship. 1-0 to Burnley then. Later we will have team news and more information for you.
