News Stories for Wayne Routledge

Ashley Williams gets the Steve Cooper situation so very wrong Sat 05th Jun 2021
Ex Swans captain Ashley Williams, who was taken out of lower league football by Swansea City has commented on the current situation with Steve Cooper at Swansea. Clearly without all the facts, he has done himself no favours at all with his understanding of exactly what is happening at the club who made him, and indeed where the club find themselves today.

A master class in defending from Marc Guehi ensured Swansea City progressed to the EFL Championship final at Wembley next Saturday as the swans win 2-1 on aggregate after a 1-1 draw at the Liberty stadium.

Wales most successful Premier League club have a chance to return to the top flight if they can avoid defeat today at the Liberty Stadium against Barnsley. Already with a one goal advantage Swansea City take to the field at 6.30pm this evening safe in the knowledge they have already beaten Barnsley three times this season. However, that means nothing in the Championship play offs, and today the best side books a date at Wembley stadium a week today on Saturday May 29th.
Andre Ayew could sign a new contract at Swansea City in 2021 Tue 27th Apr 2021
Regardless of how you look at it Andre Ayew will only be involved in four, and hopefully five more games this championship season. The reason as many know is his contract ends at the end of May making him a free agent. At 32 at the end of this year some will say he has one relatively big move left in him, and he will go to the highest bidder, others we know are thinking, how do we keep him at Swansea ? Well, there are a few hurdles, but we have been told it’s possible.
Swansea City turn on the second half style and qualify for the play offs again Sun 25th Apr 2021
From the start it seemed the same old swans, that is bar a few glimpses of hope had turned up at Reading today. The positivity swans fans had before the game almost disappeared when Reading went one up. However, in true swans fashion it was to be a roller coaster from beginning to end. The swans are in the play offs again by damn !
Sunday Football : Reading v Swansea City TEAMS Sun 25th Apr 2021
One point is all that is needed for the swans to guarantee a play off place, The noon kick off at the Madejski Stadium is also Reading’s last opportunity to put pressure on the swans in sixth place.
Swans lose at home again : The harsh truth for Steve Cooper Wed 21st Apr 2021
Frustrated Swansea City fans watched a nonplussed and wretched performance by Steve Cooper’s swans at the Liberty on Tuesday. So much so, even the most ardent of Cooper admirers were beginning to think this was some sort of sick joke as his players started in a defensive formation against a QPR side who had no reason or need to win, lose or draw this game.
Swansea City v QPR :The game which will tell us everything about automatic promotion Tue 20th Apr 2021
It’s down to the last four games, and tonight is the first of that run in. The swans have QPR and Derby at home and Reading and Watford away. They have to win them all, no more slacking, wandering around aimlessly or failing to execute basic passing moves. This is it, draw or lose and it’s over for the swans and any hope of automatic promotion. Win and it could leave a chink of light shining through a nearly closed curtain.
Swansea City : The banana skin ahead this weekend Fri 16th Apr 2021
Swansea City go in search of three wins on the bounce to put more pressure on second place Watford this weekend. However, Wycombe themselves are determined to fight to the bitter end to avoid relegation back to League 1. It’s not going to be plain sailing for the swans but this game is a must win, the reality if they don’t it's another play off dog fight.
Routledge is the difference again - as Swansea City win away again ! Tue 13th Apr 2021
It was another very decent display by the swans with Wayne Routledge once again starring for the second away game in a row. The swans took all three points at Hillsborough, and will maintain all is not lost in the chase for second place. It wasn’t pretty, in fact again it was quite frustrating, but overall any win away from home at this stage of the season is most welcome. On seventy five points now, the play offs regardless of the maths is almost certainly guaranteed.
