Anyone seen this yet? Looks ace.
Finally got round to watching this last night. Good fun, and surprisingly touching in places. The two lead roles were very good. And it is _easily_ the most accurate on screen portrayal of being off your nut at a rave I've seen.

Difficult one. I loved HT at the time. But I've not watched it for years but I bet it would look seriously dated now and a bit cringe-y. Beats definitely has a more gritty side to it -- it's about the early/mid-90s illegal rave scene and the kind of Spiral Tribe counter-culture around it, whereas HT was obviously about club-culture.
The 'off your nut' scenes in Beats are much better done than HT though, imo.

This is a good "off your nuts scene". After having a deep conversation about how Koop is sadly watching his dads mental illness deteriorate in hospital , the pair of them suddenly realise their own mental state. Racking up a line while E'd up, the conversation takes a U turn.
Still got a soft spot for this film. Agree though its about the clubbing scene in the 90s rather than the raves or illegal parties. I dont think its dated that much, i think it captures the era as well as Quadrophenia did to the mod era. Spliff politics is timeless..lol
